Yes it looks like a good enough fit and I think something to ‘flesh’ the clamp out would be a good plan. I’ve sent the photos to the guy who will fit it ( simple job that is sadly way above my practical skills) and will see what he reckons. I’ve got a single kickstand at the moment and loading it up is a bit of a pain at times

What was the issue that you had with it - I’ve only heard good things about it ?

I’ve only heard good things about the Kickback 1 so yes I’d get one if I could but there aren’t any out there as far as I know.

Xtracycle suggest that they can't guarantee a fit because of the following - 'Boom tube slightly more oval than strap/band. Perpendicular tube fits KB3 plate perfectly.'

Just had this back from Xtracycle :

"At this time, we are not able to say with confidence that the KickBack 3 works on the Surly Big Dummy. We've heard from Surly that what they are finding is that their oval tubing might not be the best fit since the KB3 is built for the round tubing of our frames. This could cause the KickBack 3 to damage your Surly frame which would be a shame.

We have heard from some Surly customers who have tried to get the KB3 to work on their Big Dummy and they were able to do so by padding the frame where the KB3 comes into contact. Since this is not a perfect fit, this would be a modification you would need to make a judgement call on. Xtracycle would not be responsible for any damage caused to your frame if you chose to take this route.

We recommend the Rolling Jackass center kickstand found here - http://www.rollingjackass.com/ - or an older Xtracycle KickBack 1 if you are able find it second hand.

It looks good - I’m going to email Xtracycle and ask why they think it won’t work on a Big Dummy

Where are you Madhias? Xtracycle can now ship direct to Europe and are quite good at getting back to you when you contact them. I was going to buy a Hooptie but Surly brought out the Kid Corral. It’s a shame about the wideloaders not being available/compatible anymore but Surly might bring their own version out although I’m not holding my breath as it took them 10 years to bring out the Kid Corral. Homemade bars might be the answer but that’s not something I could do. Do send some pics of your build.

I don’t think the new ones will fit at all with the Dummy even with Surly collars. I’ve been looking for one for ages but they are impossible to find. I’ve just got the Kid Corral which is great. Out of interest what kickstands are you using - I’m trying to find a two legged one that is better than the one legged one that I have but the only one that seems to cut it is the Rolling Jackass which is £££?
