Sad to hear of your bump MG, how fast were you going, I always ride down there cautously, don't forget if the kid weas german it's proably not his instinct to look the right way on our roads when they cross as they drive on the other side in Germany, no excuse for him crossing on a red, but a reason why he stepped out

I had old chrome bits on my frame covered when it was powdercoated by Amourtex.

And how was the finish, was it good? Did it look ok? Could you tell the difference between the previously chrome and non chrome bits?

Is this possible, if the chrome has gone too far to be cleaned/restored is is possible to powdercoat over the chrome?

It looks like less of a project, definitely doesn't need painting and if I could get it for about £60 would probably only need £30-40 spent on it to look amazing!

RIght, I have got an offer of this bike off ebay for £15

And want to do it up for my girlfriend for a christmas present, she wants a 3 speed bike so I thought one with a sturmy archer rear hub would be a good idea.

The frame alone would probably cost £15 so even if the other parts are kaput its could still be a good idea.

I'd ideally like to do the whole thing for under £100 I know this is a tight budget but I am skint, I think I may even have to re spray it myself, perhaps possibly even get the decals redone myself.

I wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt wheels with sturmy archer hubs, the rims on this bike are probably fucked, but if I could rebuild new wheels cheaply that would be amazing.

I assume I would need the following

Pedals/Bars/Levers/Grips/Seatpost/Saddle?Brakes/Wheels and paint. all this has to be bought for under £100 including a lot of elbow grease!

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of respraying frames themselves, is it something that can be done in a weekend as this is all the time I would have to do it in without her finding it!
