Yep. mostly fine but by the time I got to N16 some of the roads had started to get packed snow turning to ice ruts. Ok but dont change direction quickly.
There's still some muppets out there who think bags full of throttle/slides is the best way to deal with the conditions.
BTW, I was glad i was fixed when slowing for round-a-bouts and other junctions.

Interesting take on a fairly old concept. forget the iPhone rubbish too. You'd think at least they'd build it into a bike that suits. For example that Cannondale concept thing designed by some student:
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/11/cannondale-concept-updates-the-dutch-bike/Meh. Just pedal FFS. the bicycle is nearly perfect as it is. Thats why there has been no real revolutionary updates for a long time, just refinements.

To add to the "weirdo hall of fame" - this week I saw Power Ranger man on New Kings Road - a middle aged bloke looking very serious with helmet on and wearing a downhill mountain bike body armour suit
I laughed so hard I almost crashed
This whole thread is the funniest shit ever. And I have seen this guy in fulham a few times.
I LOLd. he didn't understand why.

To be honest I dont feel like I can ride aggressively on the bike, comfortable flowing but not chopping and changing direction. Most of my riding in the past has been single track on a light, compact XC hartail so I am used to a nimble feeling bike ( i know an XC bike is miles away) Most everything is pointing towards fairly strongly that I bought wrong!

It looks like, or should I say feels like I bought the wrong size fuji track. What a muppet.
The bike is a 56 cm with a 70mm stem and lo profile risers. With my saddle set to the right height there's about 12cm from the clamp to the rails. And I could possibly lose another cm for a perfect fit.
I'm about 173cm.
I can ride the bike fine but I do feel a touch stretched and there's almost no standover room. There is bits resting on the top tube. Also after each commute my lower back does hurt, indicating a non-ideal position.
For some reason when I tested the bike I didn't feel any of this (must be something in the air at evans) and the guy managed to convince me a 54 would be too small even though I asked several times. I guess he just wanted the sale.
Should I take it back and swap for a 54?
They should do it even though I have put 60 miles on it already.I understand bike fit is a personal thing and giving an unseen view over the interweb is not ideal. But I did search a few threads on the matter and it seems almost everyone of my height rides a 54 and people a lot taller than me are happy on the 56.
Anyway, I'm pissed at myself for making a rash decision. Hopefully they can swap it. If not who wants to swap?!?

Got the bike! Sweeeeeeet. Although...
The wheels are made of overcooked spaghetti. Need some serious spoke tension put on them. As it is I'm considering putting my old cheap wheels on. The bonus is that then I don't have to swap the randonuers over.
Also slightly worried the 56 is a tad too large. Everything's comfortable but it just feels so different. Guess thats the higher bb and shorter wheelbase? Possibly need to cut down the steerer by 10-15mm and get rid of the spacers.
Anyway, first time riding fixed too. Now thats a weird experience! Took about 2 miles before I remembered to keep the legs moving while going over bumps and dodging holes. I think after a few weeks when I'm building up the skills I'll really start to enjoy it.
Sick of looking at a computer now. Got new bike to play with and some cold beers.

So buy cheap bike, spend extra cash just to make it rideable? Sounds silly. Even though I have just done exactly the same thing. I am hoping the fuji is slightly better quality though.
Having said that, it sounds like a challenge. I'd almost want to ride one and see how long it lasts before it dies.
As long as it's safe I don't have a problem. It's probably closer to what bikes should cost anyway.

i was the '80s detective, buying tubes and co2 canisters.
i did ask the guy behind the counter what the fuck it was.Ah, yeah, I do remember. The guy serving me served you. So I take it you saw it with the massive wide bars attached? Thye will be trimmed to 410mm. But I'm keeping the drops and the stem for future use.
I dont generally like riding on drops when commuting for neck pain/control reasons.
Lucky your Ok. Cool that a old dutch bike takes out car though. You must feel just a little smug. I think by not making him pay you may have at least made one driver think twice.
