R.I.P. Everton Smith.
I commute that way, taking the left turn off VBR though that tight turn was beginning to really worry me. Quite often the traffic turning into Drummond Gate takes a tight turn and encroaches into the bike path.
During the school year cyclists usually have to swing out right into the middle of the road soon after going around the bend left as there are one or two cars parked (dropping off kids to the nearby school). A couple of times I've had close calls with traffic excelerating fast behind me as I move right to go around the parked vehicles.
Condolences to the family & friends of Mr Smith.

Was sorry to miss you ladies. I did a marathon ride in the morning and it didn't get to Jubilee Gardens until about 10.20am. I overestimated how far you had gone and overshot to Battersea Park (didn't have a route sheet on me; fail). Somehow missed seeing you all entering the park. Got cold and damp (a second time), gave up and went home.
Will be much more organised next time and look forward to a summer ride...

Top tips; I've just used the RoadSafe site to report an incident yesterday. A clubmate and I were riding through Dulwich after training at the velodrome when a car on the opposite of the road & going in the opposite direction swerved over to try and take both of us out. He stopped at the red lights in the village where I caught up with him, followed by my clubmate and knocked on his window. Another cyclist arrived and the driver got out of his car to square up to all three of us. When we got out phones to take pictures he backed off, got into his car then drove through the red light to get away - in full view of several other drivers, independent pedestrian witness and cctv. The first thing he said when he got out of his car was a rant about cyclists not paying road tax... ffs. First time I've encountered that level of maliciousness and deliberate intent to harm. Didn't half give me the shakes.
Anyway, incident has been reported and I have the relevant form to complete and have witness details a-plenty. Hopefully this will get followed up.
Hope he didn't meet any other cyclists yesterday evening as I would really fear for their safety.

+1!!! I've nearly been pasted into the new ped island twice already by cars barging through the narrowing gap (I want to turn onto Half Moon Lane so have to stay to the right of the lane), and the 6 inch high kerb all the way around it makes it even worse, ripe for pedal strike. If the light sequences dont get sorted out at the end of this I'm going to start riding commuting through Loughborough Junction instead, HH is fucked.
And it gets on my tits how there is no option for crossing between the end of Half Moon Lane and Milkwood Road. But the whole thing is indeed a mess. Worth taking in part of the hill if one can avoid the HH area completly.

Yay! Excellent stuff. I can provide snippets of info on London and architecture if required. Am adding to the list as I hope to be there (if I haven't had upcoming knee op by then).

Lots of Jens facts (on the same lines of Chuck Norris):

Including:
"Jens Voigt can start a fire by rubbing two mud puddles together. "I love Jens.

Also someone on Kennington Road the other with a picture of Sheldon Brown's face stuck to their mudguard.
Oooh, I think I saw the same chap - in a Foska Marmite top - this evening going west along Embankment - I was on his wheel from Parliament Square to Vauxhall Bridge. Was going to compliment him on the sticker but he shot off down Grosvenor Rd whilst I headed over the Bridge. Steed was a Pompino.
Great news jemjah!
