Good point about the labour costs etc.
I think since Feb this year they're VAT free even just on their own:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vat-on-energy-saving-materials-and-heating-equipment-notice-70862.19 Batteries for storing energy converted from electricity ... the installation of a standalone battery for storing electricity from the
grid (the mains electricity)but yep that's not forever so worth thinking about
-
Thanks, that's really good to hear!
Electricity usage isn't particularly heavy so even 9.2kWh sounds a lot. I assumed batteries were the easier part to expand in the future (no scaffolding etc etc) and one area where tech/cost may change more rapidly.
No plans for a heat pump but I should probably read into it a bit more. -
Would be interested in opinions on a solar quote I’ve had, or on any of the components in it.
Around 8 months ago I got a few quotes (Octopus/Eon/local) for ~12/13 panels and a 9kWh battery which all seemed to be around £14k, which seemed expensive and too long a pay back period.
I signed up to a Solar Together Surrey group buy interest list and have had the following initial quotes (these are just prices without a visit to confirm).
Pricing seems a lot more reasonable, just interested if people more knowledgeable than me have any thoughts on either the pricing, the components used or questions I should be asking:

There's a comment here - https://twitter.com/metpoliceuk/status/1333335067226214402?lang=en-GB - about that seller selling stolen goods in 2020. And they sell shifters, saddles and seat posts so I'd think you're right.
-
Is it possible to prove that they're definitely your shifters with distinctive marks etc?
Could you buy them and then raise a case with eBay for a refund?
I thought eBay are usually fairly good at protecting buyers, and at least you'll have the name and address of the seller to pass on to the police.

I’d always assumed that they just overvalue to get the listing and optimistically hope somebody out there may pay it, then just reduce it if it’s not shifting.
I don’t see a problem with a low offer, they’ll be glad to put any offer to the seller, show there’s interest and use it to push up any other offers they receive.
I wouldn’t feel bad making an offer more than 5-10k below, you can always increase it. It would also depend if the property been listed for long, and if you’re dependent on selling/in a chain or can move quickly.

They used to pursue mobile phone use up until this case:

Hopefully they'll start again with the new law.
In case you didn’t know the next version called Tado X is available in Germany I think but not here yet, I’d expect it to be released here at some point soon.
It uses thread/matter for communication and the trvs have a rechargeable battery.
