Things are reduced for a reason and are generally sold for what they're worth.
You can only spot a good deal if you actually know the value of something.
Yep, in my line of work you come across a LOT of bullshit gear, mainly because people do not know what they're doing whether they be customer or manufacturer.
It's a good thing we have forums!
I've got to admit, some of the incentive to go with one of the Cannondale's is that I know the shop well and have faith that I can speak to an actual human being who knows what they're doing.
Project X looks like a great bike though and I discovered it through recommendation.

Thanks for all the help, Smallfurry.
My old local bike shop has thrown a spanner in the works and just offered 20% off EVERYTHING. Including these beauties...
I have Cannondale history in my mtb days and also happy with 105's so these seem like a serious contender? Might be able to nab some pedals off the shop too.
Seriously tricky price point, especially at a time when there are plenty of deals to be had.

Thanks everybody.
Oooh those Cannondale's are nice. Remind me a bit of my old Bianchi actually. Not as well spec'd as the others though? And yes, the Focus is not as stunning looking as the others.
I haven't had any experience with Campag OR SRAM actually, just Shimano, but the SRAM Force seems to be pretty good for this kinda price.

So I'm buying a bike with more than one gear. There are some amazing deals flying around at the moment so it seems like good timing and after scouring the internet for hours I reckon I'm finally onto something. Anyone have any thoughts on these beauties (or maybe even a new suggestion)?

I was just in the Vietnamese on Englefield Road in Dalston for 5 minutes picking up a takeaway and walked outside to find my bike was wheel-less. Fuming, I head over to The Talbot for a commiseration pint and some guy comes over to me and explains that he saw two crack heads trying to make off with some wheels so he decided to take them on! In front of oncoming traffic he grabbed one of the wheels, narrowly avoided a fist to the face, then grabbed the other one while it was being swung at his head. Then they chased him down the road but he managed to make it to the pub. He hands me my wheels. My faith in humanity is restored. What a fucking hero! I'm the luckiest twat alive right now.

Yeah, cutting the rack won't do much good as the lock is through the chainstays. I'm gonna go and try and find a decent hack saw. Can't wait to see what onlookers say! Fun.
By the way, the lock is similar if not the same as this one...

Hey folks. You've got yourself an addition to the Bournemouth bike allegiance here.
I got stopped by one of the beach Nazi's with the speed cameras. Now, how many times do you hear of kids handling used needles on the beach compared to kids getting hit by a bike? Exactly.Yet, no one seems to be doing anything to stop the junkies underneath the pier, we just get old Nora's bitching about bikes or dogs off leads or cold tea or whatever else the world has chosen to thwart them with on that particular morning. And how many times do you hear about cyclists getting hit by cars compared to kids getting hit by bikes?
Rant over. Phew.

I still have no faith in the police. A couple of years ago my house got robbed, the pricks took about £10000's worth of stuff. I gave the police a video of the twats walking out of the front door with my shit, both their addresses and their names....cops were not interested and the two idiots are still wandering around ripping people off.
Also, about ten years ago me and about 5 or 6 other people I know all had bikes stolen within a month from the same spot. I found a classified ad in a magazine for two of the bikes...again, no interest from the cops.

Gonna head back to my stomping ground tomorrow and pop in the shop, take both those Cannondale's out for a try.
