I've got a bequested fixed gear bike (Carlton ex-track with front brake) which I am trying to sort out for summer riding. My problem is that even with 22-622 tubs I still have toe overlap with my preffered clipless setting.
My current solution is to set the clips on my shoes quite far forwards, which sin't that great. Possibly solution would be to go from 170 to 160 cranks which should give me an extra cm. I'm also thinking a front 650a/b/c wheel, with a slim 650a being probably the best bet (but also being essentially a fictional wheel size I would have to build up, which I don't know how to do, using wheelchair racing parts).
Any help? -
There was an anti-BNP rally a couple weeks back during the election but very few people showed in comparison to this. Unsettling.
A big part of the BNP is getting the media attention. Lots of people are trying the ignoring the BNP route to try and sideline them.
TBF when I saw the anti-BNP rally I got very precious, they were saying that the BNP were natzis because they denied the holocaust, which seems a counter-intuitive to me (natzis would glorify the holocaust, surely). -

In my old age I think I have posted this but can't find it again so:
Planet-x carbon seatpost. Fitted to my pompino for all of a month, but I'm a luddite and hold no truck with carbon fibre. I've downgraded to an alloy seatpost and am much happier with that.
They're £72 new + delivery, I'd be happy with a bit under half that, or a trade for a silver alloy seatpost in the genre of the planet x superlight (needs to be longer than 250 though).
27.2 in all cases. Link to planet x -
emmeff, I'm a science teacher. 90% of the kids in my class abandon comfort zone at the door, it's a constant battle for them to feel safe enough with the material to attempt it.
I do use your point alot, but then again when you have 3rd generation unemplyed kids who's parents have low expectations (my last school) it's hard to "scare" them into doing the right thing.
dfp, I have no image of parkour being an easy thing that i can get the fat kids at my school doing in a couple hours. I do see it as something that will have "wow" factor and that the able may do, which would then inspire the others. I reckon the best way to get the non-sporting motivated (I would have counted myself in that bracket as a kid) is to give them an activity that is it's own reward without a need for compettition. So not a game you can let your team down in, or come last in a race. I reckon alot of cycling disciplines will fall into this opennes factor. Parkour looks cool and is low cost as far as equipment/space is concerned. -
i can try and find out more info if you want.
But I must ask, why do you want to get your schoolkids involved in jumping on and off stuff?! Aren't schoolkids interested in non-daft hobbies anymore? ;)
Yes please and
This year we have had to abandon the longer races for our secondary sports day because kids can't do it. While running is good for them they are less likely to take up cross country or athletics. We have alot of kids who might well be interested in this because the urban cool factor fits in with their image.Similarly the kids at my school are more likely to be interested in bmx than 60 mile country rides with the CTC.
Unfortunately I know zilch about parkour and have never bmxed.

Look good, what do they weigh? Looking to buy a new set for my summer bike as it currently runs tubs which could be more practical.

Thanks for that!
Amusingly I may use them on a different build, not sure they will work on my wife's bike as hers is a 571 (mtb 26") while Speedway use 590 (26"*fraction, the old 3-speed size). If I can change the brake height by 1cm that could solve the problem, though in the future I would like to upgrade her frame (need to find a source of light step-through steel frames) and would rather have the option of the more prolific 571 sized parts. -
I'm doing up the mrs' bike, to make it SS. She currently has a not very nice front wheel and a 3-speed SA rear. So the spacing is pretty much 120.
I was thinking of track hubs, SS cog, some commuter 26" rims.I have no idea who would sell these at a decent price. I "could" make my won, though I have no idea of wht rims to buy and suspect that after getting the wheel tension checked I'd be better off buying from someone else. Suggestions?

i want to do a century ride as soon as i get a coaster-hub wheel built up. anyone interested?
i'm mulling over the idea of trying to ride to london in a day too. i imagine this will be more than 100 miles, so i'll see how that goes first. anyone done this?
For a century you want to be able to do 80 miles for fun, not sure I'm up to that atm.
I think Brum to oxford is about 100 miles, london would be MUCH more.
Sounds excellent, the last one was great ... but I will be at a wedding.
