My current project is getting used to riding in Manhattan if you thought Londoners had very little self preservation New Yorkers practically attempt suicide with every road crossing. My first commute in traffic involved two near misses with peds and one car door with in mm. I have also had to glue BBs all over my bike and put a stupid chain through the saddle.
That all said it is a lot of fun and williamsburg bridge has an incredable view from the top.
Any way CSB and all that carry on...

As pooface says heading to Carroll Gardens/ Cobbel Hill is a great shout (all the English people end up here) but I would say don't just stick to Bar Great Harry there are a ton of bars and restaurants all of which are great. Char No.4 is a whiskey bar of repute, for dinner try Butter Milk Channel, Frankies or Prime Meats (further south on Court). Up on Smith - Grocery is amazing. When riding take the Manhattan bridge rather than the Brooklyn and spend all your time in the county of Kings.
