Took the Gaz bike out to France last week and went on a few very pleasant rides exploring the local lanes. We have a toddler now so touring holidays are still a while off, but it was great to dip the toes back in and be reminded that nothing is more civilised than a village bakery and a road without any hedges.

Marathons are the dream! They were what I used for years on my old Galaxy. I actually bought some 27.5 x 2.0 Marathons but couldn't quite squeeze them in. I didn't try the 1.65's as I was worried about BB height... they might've been fine but I was keen to get something as close to 1.9" / 48mm as possible.

Bit of a saga but now realise my mistake was to modify the frame around 1.9" Gravelkings with awful puncture protection.
A lot of other 650b tyre options come in 2" and are too big for this frame. If I could fit 2" tyres, the choice would be endless... but as it is there are very few options.
I've ordered some 47mm Vittoria Tereno Zeros. According to Rollingresistence they have much better punture protection than Gravelkings, and okay grip on and off road.
We shall see! I used to use Vittoria Rubinos until they broke my leg.
Anyway, If I could start all over, I'd have clearance for 2" tyres... and if I was designing it from from scratch I might even go with 26" wheels.
Hopefully this is of some use to anyone else considering a 650b conversion.

Cheers @Tijs : )
The "raceguard" G Ones look pretty much perfect if I can find some in the right size. -

Tyres arrived - stated as 48mm but really only 41mm tall x 46mm wide on these rims.
Starting to get too many punctures with the above Gravelkings.
What are my other options for 650b x 48mm ish tyres with better puncture protection?
(Mainly for roads at the moment but would like them to be okay off-road as well)

I'd go with Argos. The prices are actually fairly reasonable for what you get. A paint job from some of the newer bespoke paint companies will be £1000-15000. The finish from those people will be amazing but Argos will be fine.
Mario will do it cheaper but his paint does chip easily (something to do with legal changes around the use of stove enamel?) and the finish isn't always perfect on complicated designs.

This is great, what size is it?
I've always been half on the lookout for a Nervex path racer and they're weirdly rare in smaller sizes.
