Can I just be the boring person in the room and say that if you're in the over 40s club (like myself) then please look after your knees! Mine are a bit fucked for various reasons (mainly a broken leg a few years ago, but also from riding fixed / skidding / big gears / generally thinking I was invincible).
Trust me, it's way way better to stop using a front brake than to have bad knees.
This goes for anyone over 30, really. -
Started with MWWB and enjoying it so far.... reminds me a bit of this (which is quite silly but still excellent, and therefore probably dovetails into the seriousness thing somehow... but more on that later, when I'm not supposed to be working @Ottomanotter )

I've had a lovely afternoon in the park and am pleased / surprised to discover that people have actually humoured me. Many thanks, keep it coming.
Mammoth Weed Bastard, Spaceslug, Yob and Monolord sound like fun so I will start with them.
Is it just me or is seriousness the kiss of death for metal bands?

Looking for recommendations.... I used to keep up to date with this kind of stuff back in the early 2000's but haven't bothered for ages.
What's good these days?
I like Electric Wizard / Sleep / Kyuss / Fu Manchu / Iron Monkey / Down / High On Fire / etc etc. Generally Rise Above / Man's Ruin / Earache type things.
Problem seems to be that new stoner / doom / postwhatever stuff seems to be more or less the same as the old stuff but not as good. The fun thing about those genres back then was that they were inventive and good. (Yes I know, they were actually all being completely derivative of 70s rock, bla bla).
So, what are the new genres? Who's doing new things? What's good to zone out to these days? Educate me!

This was stolen from Herne Hill Velodrome recently.
Please keep an eye out for it in classifieds / ebay / etc.
Not the best photo but here's a description:On Monday afternoon at 14:45, Iain's bike was stolen from the velodrome.
From the CCTV footage we can see that someone came in to scope out the site before another came back in a balaclava to steal the bike, which was leant up outside the building, by the office.
Please share these images of Iain's bike in the hope we can track it down. If you see it, stick a lock on it and contact us at info@hernehillvelodrome.com

I still have a knee injury so haven't had the chance to use the Varonha much.
Proper / longer rides will be impossible until that clears up, which really sucks as it's been over six months since I last went on a proper ride and I'm starting to wonder if it'll ever get better.Been using the Evans / GAZ bike for knocking around town but as I'm working from home and have a newborn baby in the house, that hasn't amounted to much yet. Although I must say it's been fun whenever I have used it : )
I did buy a new rear rack the other day... but it looks like the rear light is in the way so will have to figure something out when there's time.
And the mudguard struts keep rubbing on the tyres, so that'll need sorting too (probably with wider mudguards).
But for now it's all just baby stuff!
