The Honda downhill bike on the previous page is by no means anti porn.
Agreed. One hell of a piece of design.
The Honda DH was only put there because somebody was confused or ignorant. Either way, they were wrong and the pic of the whole bike was posted to prove them wrong.
I've now been and drowned the requisite number of hipster kittens in a hope my sins may be forgiven.
I might post it into the Porn thread.
More deserving of it than many a bike on there (the real Honda DH bike that is!).

Look like a San Andreas to me with some plastics bolted on.
I wanna play.
It's actually all Honda:

Can't see it on that one but some of them have internal gearboxes and no end of other bespoke bits. Like this:

It ain't really fair to tell someone their bar angle is wrong. Cos unless you've ridden their bike using their body you don't really know.
+100 to yours and MDC's comments. Some people seem to forget just how personal a thing bike set-up is.

Note for those going by train. It looks like there is engineering work on the Chester line but direct trains from Stockport are still running.
Direct trains from Stockport are only every 2 hours (11:31, 13:31 etc.)
Coming back again, every 2 hours. (15:49, 17:49 etc.)Best to phone and check if you're looking at using the Chester services to get there or back.

Not sure if people have heard about this one but it's on tomorrow:
http://www.theknutsfordgreatrace.co.uk/
80 Teams on Penny Farthings racing round Knutsford. A few folks are riding down from here, unfortunately I'm still at least a month of riding so going to have to get the train (you can go direct from Stockport) but it's only 5 mins walk from the station.
I met one of the organisers up at the Debdale Park festival at the start of the month. He had a small selection of his bikes from the Warrington Bike Museum on display and was kind enough to let me have a go on an 1860's front wheel drive bike.

HAHA
The dolan forks i have to sell are 1",I might want some carbon though.... I can trade ex woodys langster steel forks wich are 11/8" n some monies. There being used with a integrated headset so I dont think you'll have trouble with that. The reason the steel forks are on the langster is because the originals broke when playing polo ;-PGiven the lack of interest in the complete bike I might well be up for splitting if you're interested in the forks. I'm toying with the idea of building up a rigid Inbred / Scandal so might yet re-use some of the other bits on that.
Wheels also now a very distinct split option if people are interested.

Even then we managed to split a few boats along the way going bow to bow for the ball. I should have guessed the mentality would be similar... :-)
They would make a much better road fork!

steel forks are cheap too. i think rincewind will swap you those carbon ones for steel forks if you buy the bike
Might be worth noting that the headset is the integrated type if people are thinking about swapping forks. You could end up having fun with headsets and spacing.
Whilst I can see why people would be cautious with carbon (and yes, for Polo steel would be my first choice) if you've ever seen the abuse Chicken throws at a set of Specialised carbon forks on a langster you know they ain't exactly fragile. I can fully understand why people wouldn't though.

im at work, so cant open your photos. would this be stupid to use for polo?
The rear hub is shimano cassette style, you could use a spacer kit if you wanted and replacing the free hub body if needed is simple enough. Drop outs are vertical so you would need a tensioner or to use the rear mech. Personally I'd loose the larger of the two front rings and just run a 1x9. The 28 tooth front ring is hardly worn and you'd stand a chance of being able to ride to the pitch. You could play magic ratios and half-links but I think the mech would be OK, it tucks in quite a bit in the bottom 3 gears on the block. Maybe get creative with a cage like they had in the 80's?
The bars are 5deg flat sweep. In the pics on Flikr the stem is flipped from how it's supplied. Flip it back over and you lift the bars about 5cm if you wanted the front higher. 31.8 clamp for easy riser bar fitting.
If you wanted to pop over for a look and a brew at some point just let me know, you're shit out of luck if you require artificial cow juice though!

Model: 09 Sirus Elite (A1 Alu frame with Zert Carbon forks)
Size: 54cm
Condition: Well used. No dents on frame but lots of scuffs etc from locking up. Bike has not been crashed but has seen a few trails as well as tarmac.http://www.flickr.com/photos/audiovoodoo/?saved=1
Rear wheel upgraded to A319 rim by Wills. Seatpost and saddle changed. Otherwise stock for that years model.
Needs:
Chain
Hub re-build
Headset re-build
New rear V brake (return springs shot)The chain rings and cassette are both worn and the free hub has a pawl not working. BB might also need replacing although it does turn freely. Yes, I did get lazy with maintenance.
Bike is sold as is, very much something for somebody to fix up / strip for bits. It's been sat in a dry cellar for over 9 months doing nothing.
Open to offers, I'm really not expecting that much due to condition. I can't really split or ship as I broke my Scaphoid at the start of the month riding my fixed and I'm about two months away from loosing the splint :-( so it's buyer collects. I'm close to the centre of Levenshulme.
PM or drop me a line on:
Oooh seven five 3 nine - two eight six - ohhh double seven.
After 6pm best as I can't do phone at work.

Hi Folks,
Some of you may know Robin Sunflower (he plays every last Wednesday of the month at Big Hands and is well known on the Manchester music sceen), committed vegan, master harmonica player and all-round sound as a sound thing type of guy. Just had a text from him saying that his van has been stolen in Chorlton. While normally a pain up until last year this was his home so an awful lot of his personal life is in the van. If you're out an about can you keep your eyes open and let us know if you spot it. Details are:
Reg: K431 GAU
White Dodge 50 (bigger than a transit) with a black expedition type roof rack, few spots of rust around doors and very much looking like a hippy wagon.
Kit in the van:
Polytone amp
Soundcraft PA mixer
Pedal board (very distinctive, made out of an old desk and covered in musician union stickers, sampler and about 5 other effects)
2x JBL EON Speakers (grills are a little kicked in)
This is his livelihood as the kit are all the tools of his trade and he will not be able to gig until the kit is found or replaced. If you see anything then please give him a call on: 07747 one one 7698
I know normally we don't like cars and things but this really is the exception to make the rule.
Thanks folks.
