I know it's not cool to post my own listing, but I'm not benefiting from this.
My old bridgestone keirin frame for sale on ebay. All proceeds to go to Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami Relief Fund.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/190513383544This is a charity auction, and all the proceeds from this auction will go directly to Global Giving Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami Relief Fund.
I'm parting with this much loved Bridgestone NJS Track bike frame. It was built for a Japanese Keirin Racer in 1999.
I have owned this frame for the last 5 years and it has been raced mostly at London's Herne Hill Velodrome.
I now have a custom made bike and this one's gathering dust in our living room. as much as I hate to see this go, it's not getting used and I'd rather see the money this could raise go to a good cause.
The frame has a numerous paint chips mostly from storage and a bit of rough handling, and partly because of rather thin & fragile Japanese paint, which is an amazing pearlescent yellow, this needs to be seen in daylight to be truly appreciated.
No dents or rust.
Comes with Hatta Swan headset and Sugino 75 BB.Pickup only from Forest Hill or possibly from Herne Hill velodrome on weekend.
The geometry is as follows.
Seat tube 505mm C-T
Top tube 525mm C-C
Chain stay 390mm
Seat angle 75
Head tube angle 73
Fork rake 37mm
Rear OLN 120mm
Front OLN 100mm -

Obligatory Sheldon link on fork rake;
http://sheldonbrown.com/gloss_ra-e.html#rake
Most modern forks have a rake of 43-47 mm. 50 mm is quite a lot and will increase the trail of your frame which should, if my understanding of these things is correct, make your steering a little slower than before.
I'd try it and see. You can always sell the forks on if you don't get on with them.
it's the other way.
the more rake the less trail. 74 degrees plus 50mm rake would probably give trail of somewhere around 45mm. normally around 60mm is thought to give neutral handling. so it will be a pretty fast handling bike :) -

hello,
Thought i'd put these here because these are track specific tubulars after all.
Campagnolo Pista tubular wheelset, de-stickered. All original locknuts, and lockring, perfect condition, I've ridden them twice in one year.
Selling due to being impractical and also unable/unwilling to use front brake.
Ideal stiff strong wheels for the track.
Comes with two Veloflex Servizio Corse (one needs repairing) and 2 no-namer tubs and a tin of Vittorria tubular cement, allegedly the best cement there is.I should add that it pains me to sell these, since they are the best wheels i have ever ridden :(
£280
Not even sure if this price is correct, but they seem to sell well on eBay, my only point of reference.this sold yet?
pretty good deal, if anyone's looking for a good all round wheels. I'd snap these up if campag had longer rear axle... stupid fat track ends. -

Na - in tomorrows case the top 10 in each race score points. 1st place gets 10 points, 10th place gets 1 point, 11th gets 0! Most points at the end of the day wins.
I think national and international omniums give everyone a point based on their placing (1 point for 1st, 30 for 22nd), and you probably have to do every race, otherwise you mess up the points for that race. Those events however, have many judges and cameras to place every rider in a race.
This would make omnium quite interesting. someone like Miles actually have a good chance of placing fairly high over all just by doing kilo and 200, at least as good as
someone who gets 6th in all 5 races! -

Just before this thread sparks a reputation, there have been two proper crashes in 10 weeks of track league. Compare that to Crystal Palace where there has been (rough guess) on average one crash per week, and recently a few crashes per week. Its bike racing, it happens. Its rare, but occasionally you might get involved.
Does anyone actually remember what caused the crash this week? So far I've not heard anything to suggest it was anything to do with anyone's inexperience. I think it was probably a lot more to do with people going from hanging on towards then end of a fast 30 laps race, to starting to think about their positioning and energy reserves for the last sprint of the race.
Guessing from what I saw and remember, it's probably from overlapping/touching wheels, and loosing control. it happened towards front of the bunch, and there were no riders bunching up, fairly steady straight pace line out of turn 2. the guy in front of me fell off and I rode straight into him. mike and Euan followed.

Its always the neck isn't it? My neck is killing me this morning. I forgot you went down as well y-s. I guess you must have been right behind me?
I can't really comment about what happened all I know is that the 2 riders in front of me went down and I couldn't get out of the way fast enough.
But there were some hairy moves taking place on Wednesday I did notice that and something does ned to be done because I do not want to make a habit of crashing and I don't want to have to fork out £500+ on a frame every season
I probably was in front of you.
a rollapaluza guy went down in front of me, and I had nowhere to go but ride into him and over the bars. What I don't get is it was almost a straight single line coming out of the turn not too fast, and 4 laps to the last sprint, not where you'd expect a crash to happen. it probably was a touch of wheel, caused most likely by inattention. -
We have agreed to bring in an accreditation system for track league next season, where new riders will have to attend a minimum number of Monday sessions and be assessed before signing up to TL. This brings us into line with most other velodromes.
This will be a good move.
Also I have to say I'm really not big fan of the new format this year.
Campag record?
