http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=22652
these are 9spd, double and triple compatible (i do need triple btw)
or am i missing something?

Thanks guys, just checked out ChainReaction
yes they have the sora 9spd @ 100 quid (33% off)
they also have the Tiagra 9spd @ 100 quid as well (50% off it says)
Im not massively familiar with the range,
but im guessing Tiagra is going to be a little better for the moneysedit: yes the brake calipers are just regular modern road ones,
i dont pay too much attention to what model of anything i have - unless i need to replace it!thanks

Hi,
hoping not to attract a shower of UTFS! - hopefully, I think I have done the research myself (not too difficult admittedly) but i just wanted some confirmation,
as what i am looking to buy will be second hand and i wont be able to send it back if it is wrong...I picked up a giant fcr 2
from the giant website, gear spec:
Gear shifters:
Shimano 440 Rapidfire Plus 27 speed
Front mech:
Shimano 440
Rear mech:
Shimano TiagraIt has flat handlebars,
Im going to put road drops on,
with brake/gear shifter combo levers,so I need a '9 speed' lever set - im presuming, because its got a 9 gear casette....
so these will work a treat right ?! :
Shimano Sora 9 Speed Sti Lever Set
I realise they are the bottom of the shimano range, but these alone are 135 dorrah from wiggle, shocking.
but like i say, im going to try and do it on the cheap?
am i correct!?
thanks

Anyone rattling on about frame stiffness, I'd love to hear what wattage you can put through the cranks in a sprint, from the traffic lights, because my guess is that you are not putting enough out for any frame flex to be significantly hampering your acceleration.
and the 'durability' of carbon frames - people are talking like they would break within 2 or 3 months of use... most people on here i'm guessing ride sub 70miles a week,
carbon frames would last for years being given a beating by proffesional roadies doing closer to 500 miles a week and riding the bike harder than most on here would be able to ride it for a matter of minutes.perpetuation of rumours around these parts!

i rode london using a lot of A roads, nay problem
there is no real nice way to get there without extending the distance from 'long' to seriously long.
This summer im doing, Birmingham - London - london bikeathon - london - birmingham, 300 miles, 24 hours, no sleep for 40 hours :S,
i'll be in selly oak hospital if anyone needs me.

Some of the mesh electric ones, like you say in the range of 500 - 700 - feel so realistic, exactly the same bounce and resistance etc, tension i think its called.
been tempted by an electric kit before, and they are getting better all the time.Obviously nothing beats an acoustic kit for playing at volume.
There are also places like Robannas studios in birmingham, which if i recall correctly, have a small room (with just a drum kit and one guitar amp) which is only £5 per hour if you book in advance,
and they sort you out with everything you need apart from sticks -

i had the classic, going down a hill and then the stem decided it wasn't going to hold the handlebars anymore - at all.
was able to keep holding the handlebars (though only attached to the bike by the brake and gear cables) and use the brake to slow down very carefully, to a stop... all of course, balancing the bike like when you ride no handed :S
scary moment

Yeah I think it is quiet, the Birmingham forum particularly!
I managed to ride to work on monday and tuesday last week, and have been getting the train since then, both my bikes are on 23's and some of the smaller roads are really bad (that's my story and i'm sticking to it)...
been on the turbo trainer every night now, windows open, shorts on, still end up pouring with sweat !
considering selling the fuji im beating at the moment, save some money for when something nice pops up in the for sale section when the evenings start to get a little warmer and lighter :)

Re: Neu
remember that we are all equals... and wish to be treated the same.
Unless the person in question is part of an ethnic minority or disabled... this means you can't have a little joke or say something in jest, because it will be taken too seriously by other people.
so, please, only joke about, white, able bodied, males... between the ages of 18-25... from England... and make sure they don't have any leaning diffuculties.
this way, no-one gets offended.

So you would never challenge anyone you saw doing something wrong? Only ever brush it off onto the poilce?
Yeah I would challenge anyone doing anything which directly affected me, or the life or well-being of another person (provided they didn't look like an asshole).
I wouldn't challenge someone:
-doing graffiti
-smoking weed
-touching a horse
-eroding a footpath or park
-paying for an item over the value of £1 with copper coinsThis is because, I have other things to do and life is too short to worry about this kind of stuff.
Nor would I brush it off to the police, BUT, if it meant so much to this guy in the park - maybe he should have reported it to the police rather than getting confrontational.

Why, OP was in the wrong.
a/ It's none of his business, if he is of the opinion that someone is doing wrong or breaking the law, maybe he should phone the cops and see how much of shit they give?
b/ He started being rude, even though the OP was being polite. To be honest, I would have shouted, sworn, and threatened him. Hopefully this would scare the living fuck out of him, and next time, he might not be such a NOSEY CUNT.

but the tiagra is higher spec for the same price?
not too fussed where it shifts from too be honest - but yeah i can see the difference now
