EBay convesation re the one posted above by mrj.
- Dear foffabikes,
This is a wind up, right?

- *Dear yanuf,
Why would it be?*
- Dear foffabikes,
Average cost of OTP ss as parts = 50% higher then unit cost.Apply same logic and your offering should be £180 - £200.Or for same money buy s better speced (by a very long margin) OTP.QED

- *Dear yanuf,
You might want to speak to the Brick Lane Bikes people to find out how much they charge for custom built bikes.
I think you can appreciate that bespoke bikes will always be more expensive than factory-made OTP + our bikes are made mostly of new components anyway, our frames are powder-coated (only that costs 70 pounds) and come with a 12 months warranty so I don’t really get why people tend to think that we are making a huge margin.*5.Dear foffabikes,
Not saying that you are making a huge margin, just that your price point for what you offering is way off.

Dear yanuf,
*If you can get a newly refurbished ss bike for less by all means let me know.
*- That's my point: I can get a much (much) better spec OTP for the same as your "newly refurbed".

If drivers need this kind of sensationalist bloodbath type flic to educate them that **THEY SHOULD PAY ATTENTION WHILST DRIVING** then they really should not be on the roadin the first place.
My answer is to make everyone retake their driving test (with a medical and eyetest) every 5 years.

I stuffed a 130mm axle inside my 126mm frame. At first I didn't want to do it, but was quickly persuaded as it's only 2mm on each side, so the effect on the frame is minimal. A bit of a pain in the arse getting in and out though.
"A bit of a pain in the arse getting it in though".............. Ohhh errrr matron.

My partner was the driver of the Lorry which was in the accident on Monday where sadly a woman cyclist died. I have read all the posts about this and some have been quite upsetting as a lot of comments have been way off the mark. My partner had not been drinking all night, he was safely tucked up in bed at 9pm watching TV with a cup of tea. He is an experienced HGV driver of 20yrs and has never had an accident. The cyclist came up on his left side and has sais he simply did not see her,he did check his mirror but she was in his blind spot. I have researched this and a lot of accidents have happened this way. He was arrested, this would be normal practise after an accident of this nature, the police are now conducting an investigation. He is traumatised and our lives will never be the same again. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this terrible time.
As has been said: very brave to post here.
|However, 20 years behind the HGV wheel, so he knows all about blind spots. I have driven HGV's over the years and spent lots of time adjusting mirrors to account for "blind spots". Can't get them all, but you can reduce them to the point where a bit of bum shuffling makes rearward vision coverage 90%. And I was always aware of the other 10%.
Now I ain't passin judgment. I wasn't there so I can't say. But I do agree with many of the posts here: It is obviously a problem that driver/cyclist education/training is not addressing. How many more will die before road users and the powers that be take notice? -
