I use a packing/suitcase organiser cube to transport my suit to concert venues in an old Brompton T bag. As long as you fold carefully they keep jackets presentable!

from memory - the headtube was reamed out and replaced but retaining the original lugs. I can try and dig out the emails with Oak Cycles and see if I have any photos of the repair.
See attached photo of brake bosses, I never had any problems in use.
