The grips are strong V's. Just been out to play in rush hour traffic for the first time since fitting the drops and it's as good as i expected. The handling is far less twitchy than with the risers but just as fast to react cos of the 650 wheel.
The easy way to put any Keirin grips on...including soyos which i had before is with hairspray....plenty in the grip and on the bar.....slide em on...then leave for a few hours....sets them rock solid....then wipe excess off the rest of the bar. Presto. :)
It's surprising what a difference bars make, with top drop bar position and risers. You would'nt think there would much difference.Mind you,a low pro fixed with a 650 front wheel,in my mind spells "pure speed"!.Great innit!
Nice tip on the Keirin grips.I think i've seen posts on here where every type of liquid/fluid has been used.Hairspray by the sounds of it has the added bonus of fixing them in place.Cheers. -
How lo can you pro?
Made a couple of changes to the Merckx...swapped the risers for some 36cm Black nitto's....prefer the look of drops on a lo-pro...just looks 'right' to me...also swapped the Arione saddle for a flite...all that's left now is a tyre change and new pedals when i can afford them and i'm done. :)
I like where you have the grips. What type are they?.Comfortable position, then drop down when you feel the need, nice. Were they easy to slide on?.If they're soyo's you deserve a medal :o) -

That bike weighs far less than you think.
Have you ever ridden in deep snow? over 300+ miles? Cos that's what the owner does on it...it's designed for a specific thing and wastes a hell of a lot less energy than your bmx would.
If you haven't got the knowledge, why not keep quiet and not make such a fool of yourself eh?Dear Scott, sorry to have irritated you. You're right, what knowledge do i have?.Your also correct in the assumption that i've made a fool of myself!.I apologize unreservedly for obviously raising your blood pressure.Although i must own up and say that i don't own a BMX.!.Lots of love Donkry Rhubarb.
