Thank you for the prompt replies.
I'm no expert but I think the answer is in your question.
What? the stem size, or the bolt, or the force?
-I thought 0.4 mm wouldn't be a problem with the use of a shim
-I tried both my LBS if they had a replacement bolt to no avail. Clearly I will get a correct bolt, but why shouldn't a generic bolt work for now?
-When I say a heavy lean, I'm overstating it, it's easily enough that I wouldn't feel comfortable riding.apologies for tardyness

I've got a cinelli quill stem, 26mm (maybe 26.4mm) and nitto br-021s, 26mm.
The bolt on the stem is missing, so I got a nut and bolt from work and fitted the bars. Now however tight I go, and even with a coke can(s) for a shim, I can still cause the bars to slip with a reasonable force, i.e. just leaning on them heavily.
Does it matter that I'm using an ad-hoc bolt/nut?

I've slapped together campag mirage 172.5mm cranks and miche 48t chainring, but now I've decided I want 165mm cranks.
I'd like either:
- 135bcd (so campag/miche) 165mm cranks
Or
-165mm complete chainset in silver
Obviously willing to part-exchange cranks (black), I got em for a tenner, essentially unused.
Based in Waterloo

I hate the bastards who squeeze past you in a tightish single lane, effectively giving you 30 cm tolerance, whilst doing 20+ mph. You then have to brave any pothole which comes your way literally as if your life depended on it.
I'm sure this doesn't even enter into their minds as an unreasonable, and dangerous thing to do, and I just find myself effin and jeffin into the wind as the roll off in their twatmobiles.

Bus overtook me on waterloo bridge, then almost straight away, before he had passed me, procceeded to pull into a bus stop, i.e. closing in on the curb with me still in the way. I thought me must have seen me, how could he not of? But it rapidly became clear he wasn't going to stop closing in, I broke hard and even had to pull up onto the curb to avoid getting chewed up.
This is the thing, you can be the safest cyclist in the word, but anything from a mental white van to one little bit of negligence from a driver like not checking their blind spot and you're fucked.

think the rain-water is better than tap water in london too? Or will it get soiled by fumes on the way down?
London tap water is very good, it's just hard. You're right about London rain water, it'd most likely not be all too healthy given it readily absorbs Carbon & Sulphur, which are prevelent in cities, resulting in acidity.
