afaik the thinking is that you should keep the movement ticking over for the following reasons:
- If the mainspring is left unwound for a long period of time, it may deform / lose tension (?) and so affect timing accuracy
- Lubricants in the movement may settle and so also have an affect on timing accuracy
Both sound plausible to me... Also I like winders.
Is there any disadvantage in allowing an automatic 'run down' i.e. when you don't wear it all the time? I presume this does not damage the movement or anything?
The only reason I was 'worried' was I keep seeing those fancy 'automatic winding boxes' and wonderd whether there was any point to them other than saving you from setting the time every now and again?

Each part in the movement must haz an NJS stamp on it too... Otherwise it won't cut the mustard at the table. Also a leather strap is a definite no-no. Must be cut from the under-belly of a live young African croc (not your cheap American 'gator) to get the correct sheen.
Which all means that i agree; none of those are dress watches.

m8!: To further add to the pile of shit, the account I have linked to Paypal is giving me issues and since it's in the UK it's hard to sort from here. I'm trying to link my Japanese account to Paypal right now. I will get your money back to you ASAP.
This isn't how I like to deal and I take full responsibility for it being a generally sub-par experience. I have my reasons but I won't make excuses - I fucked up, and I apologise.
Err ok... Earlier this week I sent you a message via PayPal. Issuing the refund should be straightforward. If in doubt you can phone PayPal and they'll help you.
Don't delay, act today.
James, did you sort out your paypal account issues?

Sugata Mitra won the TED Prize earlier this week for his wish to build a school in the cloud. I found the talk fascinating and inspiring.

he's a sound guy and wont be fucking you over
^ Let's hope so, but right now his lack of communication suggests otherwise.
obviously this isn't how you go about selling things properly and i can see why you are all becoming increasingly frustrated,
^ This.
but just cut him a bit of slack.
^ How long would you say is reasonable? 4 weeks (in my case) feels like a reasonable amount of slack?

James, any update?
You should all have PMs. Shit has been absurdly complicated here and I entrusted the posting of these to a friend. Seems that was a bad decision (and entirely my fault) and I am going to try my hardest to rectify that ASAP.
I haven't personally logged in for several weeks so I can only assume that a friend (I do share my laptop on occasion) has browsed/pulled up LFGSS with my account still logged in.

Fair enough. Gimmick or not, winders are cool (#hipstertax ?) and will save you 60secs whenever you have to reset the dates on all your perpetual calendar watches ;)
