I have a columbus tubed merckx rebuild on the cards, but needing a new fork for it.
I would ideally love a merckx fork to replace the damaged one, just wanted to see what people had to offer? Chrome would be nice! :)
Alternatively I would consider anything columbus (preferably) or 531 etc.. again - chrome would be nice :)

sorry for crappy images.. left my slr at home and i've only got dodgy phone camera at the office. -
yeah I got cavendish to build mine for me - they're great... you know, like a real bike shop - they actually listen to what you say rather than tell you what you need and how much you don't know.
I'll put up some flicks later this afternoon if I get time - mine is matte black, but I think they only do gloss now (better anyway - the matte is a shitter to keep clean, as my photos will show!) :)

no idea.
pretty minimal - I've got the 53 and its tight as hell.. I get crazy "Toverlap" too.
.. doesn't bother me though, as I don't go in for bar spins and all that.
Iro frames = fucking great though.. really well built and lovely to ride... also good customer service. Definitely get one over a blb frame*
*totally biased opinion - never ridden blb frame..

Well you could get the hardhat version. ...In my opinion though in summer you are not gonna be comfortable in something which isnt well vented.I've tried riding in a skate lid and it sucks. I dunno, it just seems a bit daft - I would either get a proper helmet or not bother. I think that those Bern ones make you look more silly than if you just got a proper bike helmet.
Yup, if you're going to wear a helmet, just get a proper one and stop being embarrassed of it. Cheap helmets always look bad and are false economy anyway, either don't wear one at all or just get a more expensive from giro or something.

Is it me or were are there an unusual amount of idiots around today? That includes drivers and other cyclists.. I have a pretty quiet cycle to work normally, but today had so many "shiiiittttt" moments that I was actually in a terrible mood by the time I got to work. Maybe I'm just tired, but it always seems a bit more mental on the roads on a friday?

Any thoughts on these guys? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=30146
I wouldn't buy either of those two — if you want to spend real money and want freeride/downhill mtb cranks, get shimano saints. They're lighter (hollowtech), stiffer and just as durable

Orange frame, white front spok and rear white deep v, turning on to Kilburn lane this morning- me, black iro just behind you, turning the other way. Hello! Nice bike.
White Genesis flyer with yellow bar tape and no foot retention (!) burning me round regents park, followed by me taking you on the outside at the bottom of park nr baker street, when your legs had run out of juice :) Hello!

I went to germany on an exchange trip whilst in school (must've been around 14-15) and was given a fixed delivery bike (his dad was a butcher) for the journey to his school one morning.. Funnily he didn't tell me anything about it so I tried to coast and got a bit of a shock
I remember riding bikes with coaster brakes when on holidays in Austria - at the time I thought pulling massive skids on them was probably the raddest thing I could ever do!

I have yellow bar tape on my Falcon Team Banana bike, white and yellow frame. Looks alright to me. Though it does get dirty, pretty quickly.
lemme find a link... really bad photo, sorry
looks nice.. you got that wicked tungsten bulb light in the photo too - oohh inside! :)
-
Is yellow bar tape really that bad?
I thought it was okay, for me anyway.
Depends on how its matched I guess.
looks nice on your guy - but you've only taped the drops.
My frame is black too, and I'm running yellow maxxis tyres, so might look nice.
I will probably do it over the weekend - will put pictures up when I'm done. Don't think I've put any flicks of my guy up here yet anyway.

Oh I did mean to ask a question but can't start a thread yet so I'll ask it here:
I have only had my OTP fixie for a week and as I said earlier in that short time I already know that gears are gone for me. But when I got the bike the fixed sprocket was missing so I'm riding freewheel at the moment until the replacement arrives. Now - I have a bad knee injury from a motorbike accident 10 years ago and I have no cruciate ligs and damaged cartilage in my left knee. Riding my previous urban hybrid thing used to make my knees quite sore (I do ride quite hard) and I've already noticed how much less this is since riding the fixie (and very surprised by that). So if I switch to the fixed how much strain does that put on the knees or am I better off sticking with freewheel?? Im using a 46/16 ratio which is perfect for my commute.
Your thoughts appreciated.
I've always had problems with my knees and find that how much they hurt varies on how much I ride/play football/sit at my desk.
I'm not riding fixed at the moment - as my knees are pretty sore.. but having a flip flop hub means I can switch over when they're better. Not the 'coolest' look, but fuck it - I'm not killing my knees to ride fixed every day!
I'm with wvm though - work seems to hurt my knees more than riding.. maybe thats because I don't stretch enough though?
Incidentally, I'd like to come to beers but I'm a little confused when the next one is - I live in north west, so I guess I have to pick north or west?! :)

I've got a timbuk2 messenger XL guy - it's alright.. does the job.. Upgrade the strap with one of the extra grippy wrap-around things - stops it slipping all the time.
However I have had to put a big piece of cardboard in the back to stop contents poking me in the back. And I do find myself adjusting it whilst riding.. I'm sure there are better bags out there, but to be honest I only wear it for communting, it's bloody huge (which is great as I take a change of clothes/hard drive/ diaries and other crap with me a lot) .. and I've spent 70 quid on it so I'll stick with it for a while.
If I was a courier riding all day I'd probably change to something else.. but to be honest. There are other bike related things I'd rather spend my money on.. like bikes :)

...is sitting on my desk staring at me. An impulse internet purchase I regretted.. but my bar tape is so raggedy from falls - it's all patched up with book binding tape.
Should I just take the plunge and do it, or is yellow bar tape the worst idea ever?
I can't believe I made a thread for this, but it's actually driving me mad thinking about it - been at work too long.

About a 2 months ago - taxi u turn (wanker) right in front of me.. I don't know how I managed it (pure survival instinct) but instead of hitting it head-on I skidded around and slammed into the side with my left arm out to break the impact - mistake. Impact went straight through my wrist. Ended up not being able to to ride for about 2 weeks after that as I couldn't grip the bars, or anything else for that matter.
Earlier this year when it was icy, going way too fast..just about to hit a corner on my way home, thought "going too fast, going to loose the back here...too late to break hard on the ice, maybe if I put some weight on my front wheel.." nano second later the front wheel disappeared from underneath me and me and the bike went down as one, hard...slid about 10metres on the ice— wheel bent, bars bent, jeans ruined, jacket torn, massive bruise on my hip, gash on arm and knee.. but luckily didn't hit head.. part of the reason I wear a helmet most of the time these days, ridden my luck too much
I've got some Deda pista bars and looking for a stem to fit them - black would be nice
