I there aren't any rust spots in the fades, they're all in the solid colours (red and a kind of pearly white).. it's and early 90's/late 80's frame and there are loads of fades etc in the paintwork.. it would cost an absolute fortune to get it done professionally. Bit out of my budget.

Got a merckx frame I'm building up as a project but the paint work is in need of some love. The guy who owned it before me has obviously tried to spray straight over the surface rust, so I think I'm going to have to wire wool/sandpaper it down and match the colour.

I don't really want to strip it and take it to armortex as the paint work is quite complex and lovely. There's only a few areas of rust that need sorting (bits on the top tube and a couple of spots next to the bb. I've got some replacement merckx forks on the way (mine are a little bent) that need to be colour matched aswel (should I get these guys done properly? I don't really want a powder coat finish)

Basically I'm looking for advice and suggestions - or if anyone's got any good links to guides for this kind of thing. cheers

oh, and yes - I did try the search, all got was "look at my rad powdercoat" or "I did this with car paint" type threads.

Can he colour match and do touch ups? This is what I need....

I also have a friend who wants to spend lots of money on a paint job for some strange old frame he bought cheap and has apparently "fallen in love with" ..

lots of fixie bikes @ the England game last night - including the rider of this stock pista with no stickers who was with missus - took photo before game and saw you ride off at the end. Me - black iro with yellow bar tape, dressed in all black.. not saying hello (sorry v rude) despite the obligatory "nice bike" nod and stare we shared.

ahh - this guy. I wanted this badly. Too much for me atm.

No steering tube length was given, and most people don't know theirs without measuring.

With seattube size the required fork is easily determined on Merckx frames.

So what do you recommend?

I emailed Tdv to ask if they had anything suitable.

I would like them to be early 90's merckx forks - to fit a corsa extra!

None were perfect. Not sure of prices.

seatpost to middle of headset: 55.5cm
head tube (not including headset): approx 14.8 cm

surely wearing one of the those helmets backwards is dangerous? Most helmet don't have a low back because it risks injuring the top of your spine in accidents. Those things look lethal.

I think that might be too long - got a 100mm on at the moment - could go to 110, but I think 130 would throw me off a bit.
