@photoben ... love those Simon's Cat cartoons - spot on!
A moment of distraction in the middle of yet another scrap.

Very cool idea - I'm in too! ... have met a few folk briefly (miss_socks, VeeVee, jayloo) ... will be my first ride in rather a loooong time. Other than a quick spin round Richmond Park recently, I'm not sure I can remember the last one! Anyways ... got bike, must ride. Aroogah will make sure I get to the start in one piece, then we can wave him on his way!
Absolutely love the spokecard!

The vintage mint green framed bike in the centre background looks familiar, I'm it's new owner - It used to belong to Litigator's Missus ... 'twas bought for me when they were preparing to head off to Kenya. I didn't meet Litigator, Aroogah might be able to confirm though, he picked it up from them.

According to the time triallists' forum, this is the general area where it happened, at the southbound exit slip road from the A1 to the B1048 Cross Hall Road
That's where I passed them from the opposite carriage way, they were just south of the bridge not quite at the slip, the car was on the hard shoulder and the cyclist being treated by fellow cyclists in the fast lane.

There's more about it here - http://www.timetriallingforum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=32172
He was a member of that forum ... very sad. Leaves a wife and a couple of young kids.
I've seen them doing the Time Trialling there a few times (A1 between Tempsford - Baldock), mostly early on Sunday mornings. They have bibbed marshalls posted on all of the junctions, but there are no other traffic measures.

A couple of photos of my Grandfather and his mates, in Wigan circa 1929/30.
Would be great see if there's anything anyone can identify about the bikes that might say something about the lads and what sort of rides they might have done.
If nothing else, then enjoy, and perhaps there are some style tips to be had for the next Tweed Run!
My Grandfather ...
And with his mates ... my grandfather is the short one in the hat!

deLurking :-) so cannot PM ... am interested in the 52 Maffioletti as I'm working on my first bike ... with lots of help from an existing forum member ... but need to check whether it's the right size ... 'cos I need a short frame (I'm 5'5ish).
's looking like I'm gonna need a smaller frame than this ... shame ... thanks anyway :-)

@photoben - the shorthair is an abyssinian, the one behind him is a Somali - a sister breed, but long hair.
