Horatio, it went to UK, to someone who also owns a Gazelle Jubile (100yr Gazelle anniversary frame). Happy it found a good home. The Jubile frame was also previously owned by me, but I were not a big fan of the pluriform graphics and the unique colour for each tube idea. Typical early 90s, but not my cup of tea. Dicki,
I do not know the seller personally, but I spot him many times on MP and elsewhere. I would think he is okay. His good 99.8% eBay rating does unveil somewhat.

Original equipment on the Vitus was Mavic Zap electronic shifting. I took the Zap off from this for me way to small frame and the Zap will replace the DA7402 on one of my two Panasonic PR-6000 roadies. The Zap is very cool. Predates the Dura-Ace electronic shifting with more than 1.5 decade, but I must admit that unlike a couple pro cyclocrossers with their battery powered DA, I do need feel the urgent need to hang the Zap on my SwissCross.

Great purchase Dicki
I got more pics sent by the seller.
I own a low pro myself. It is finised in Brussels blue. I plan to build it with c-Record. I used to own a 2nd slightly newer Gazelle Time Trial machine, but bummer I let it go at some point. I not even have a decent pic of it >>>

Offering cool early to mid 70s Batavus Professional frameset
The Professional, the contender of the Gazelle Champion Mondial in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Way rarer, in particularly examples like this early one. Handmade in Holland.
Features:
- Reynolds 531 tubing
- Bocama longpoint lugs
- chrome fork and rear
- ORANGE
- Seattube 61cm c-t
- Toptube 580mm
- Shimano 600 headset
Condition: Beware! You buy a used frame. Looking for mint, look elsewhere. You have an appreciation for patina, than this could be your new love. Structurally sound frame, absolutely. The patina is in the finish. The paint is though, but underrust is visible under coat on in particularly toptube and downtube. Chrome could need a polishing.
No matter what the condition is, it is still an unique early Batavus Professional. In my view with this frame you can buy a great all weather or works bike. Keep it a bit greasy is my advise and it will bring you to everywhere for many years to come.

Offering Jan de Reus roadframe including fork
Superfast criterium geometry. Bit nervous on the straight, but gets you through corners within a blink of the eye.
Features:
- early 90s
- full chrome, partially painted
- fluted tubing (toptube, downtube, seattube)
- routing through toptube
- ST 58cm cc
Jan de Reus was a masterbuilder from Zwanenburg, The Netherlands. Jan built frames of great reputation untill the early 90s. I would say this frame is not of his hand, due to absence of certain characteristics, but I can't tell who actually did build it.
Condition: It is a used frame. Looks good from a distance, but the frame suffered from chipping at several places. No rust! Frame is fully chromed. I think with touch up the worst spots can be solved up to a level that I personally would find very acceptable for a rider. Alternatively you could consider stripping paint, so you will have a clean full chrome fluted tubing frame. Little dent in the chainstay caused by chainsuck. I would say this a structurally 100% sound frame. View pictures to give yourself an own impression of condition.

There was one recently on Marktplaats or NL Ebay. Maybe not your size tho.
I think it was a seller from Hasselt (Ov) or so. He sold several nice bikes.I think I know who you mean. He was also offering an orange Batavus Professional, an actual Gianni Motta ...and a RIH that was acquired Big Ted. Currently he would be willing to help me out with such Union, but unfortunately it is too small. He is a nice guy. I got this scan from him >>
-
-
The Jersey of course refers to the old Union company, not the name Union that was acquired by Halfords a couple of years ago after Union collapsed. Union was, when I were young, the 3rd large Dutch brand after Gazelle and Batavus. I really really like the idea of owning a Motta made Union. Union had their high end racers made at Gianni Motta at some point, unlike Gazelle and Batavus who had their own framebuilding departments. I keep looking for a proper one. They are kinda missed in my stable I find.

wow Zieleman that is one beautiful bike ...Is it yours?
Yes ...it still is, but I intend to let it go, because I made the decision for myself that I need to focus and pick certain biketypes I'll center my interest around. A trackbike is a bit an oddball in my current little stable.
It the only complete Gazelle I have currently btw. Have a couple of framesets, among them AA Special, AA, AB, A, but they're all future projects. 1st make room.
-
ur a bit of a safari hunter with arent ya zieleman??! spotting all those gazelles and what not!!
theres suddenly so many gazelles for sale on ebay / forum. bit of a london bus issue here. i've been out for one for about 8months!
I sure like Gazelles, but I not in particularly hunt for them. I like spotting much more than that, but for as far roadbikes are concerned I am especially interested in or have a weak spot for them with Dutch and Japanese origins.
My cycling virus started through mountainbiking, unlike many of you who's enthousiasm probably got triggered with building fixies. The enthousiasm for old world quality roadbikes caught on when I thought I had seen it all with MTBs.
Many Gazelles up for sale currently? Could be, I didn't notice it, but that could have a lot to do with that I am not an eBay regular. Well, as if it isn't enough than, I happen to have one for sale too.

Hi Simon,
Great bike, I've seen it live! Roy, the guy you got it from, is a friend. Think it had seen less than 1000km of use ...maybe even less than 100km. Very nice aesthtiscs with the interesting lugwork and the 'Brussel blauw' colour if you ask me. Less subjective is that it is simply a excellent rig if you want to get around corners fast.
You mention it is a 1994 bike. Maybe the serial indicates 1994, but I would say it is a 1995MY 'Criterium' model.
-
I have been told the bike dates from around 1962
Being considerably younger than my bike is, my knowledge of bikes of that era is relatively limited. That decal is pre Champion Mondial era. The CM model designation didn't excist when this bike were built. Around this time or somewhat later Gazelle got hands on additional race experience with acquiring Locomotief of Amsterdam.
-
I would think twice before a repaint. You can always repaint, while authenticity is more difficult to achieve once repainted.
Have no pics of my AA. Moreover it is a frameset only and it looks indentical to yours. Maybe more interesting is showing this oldy >>
The speedo is hilarious >>
Pure mechanicallly functioning, for already over 40 years, or almost 100,000km (or 200,000?). No battery needed. Environmental friendly. Okay, it takes 10% of your pace, that is all.
+1
If not, good luck improving it. You will sure need it.
