^^ The Porlex isn't so consistent at larger grinds due to play in the burrs. Still drinkable though.
Oh yeah for sure, but jim1985 already has a Porlex, and I'm just saying he might be better off keeping it for the Aeropress and just using the elec for espresso.
Aaanyway he might end up with a machine that's easy to switch between settings/beans, in which case I'll grind my hat and brew it.

Filter? Why?
Electric grinder for espresso, Porlex for filter*. Each set to their respective bag of beans that you're sessioning at the time. Makes sense right? No need to adjust and clean your elec grinder every time you feel like a filter coffee, only to have to clean and re-dial for espresso next time. Just sounds laborious and wasteful.
*Cos it's way easier to hand-grind for filter than espresso

No worries! Forgot to say finally, just keep trying filter coffee from good shops. It's usually the most interesting/exciting thing on offer anyway, especially if it's roasted by the shop (e.g. Tapped and Packed, Workshop) or if they regularly get in guest roastery stuff (Association E3 and others).

I used to use one of those Brun pedal hangers, the wall was quickly a fucking mess from the tyres no matter how careful I was, and it was quite tricky to get the balance right. It wasn't a case of just hooking your pedal at the 12 o'clock position and touching the wheels down. You'd need some kind of extra ledge or shelf to be sure, and that defeats the object of using something so compact in the first place.
Do not recommend.

This a thread about coffee, of course I'm serious.
From the LMNH talk the guy mentioned about the range of temperature that you can taste. Hence that as it cools. Personally I'll drink coffee that is at room temperature.
Cool, yeah I leave it for about 5 minutes before starting to drink it. By the time I finish it it's probably more like 40*C.

feel like I don't really know what I'm aiming for taste wise
Roughly I'd say it should be similar to a V60 pourover but less 'clean' with more body, perhaps a heavier mouthfeel. Most decent coffee shops offer either V60 or Aeropress as the 'filter' choice so that might give you an idea of their similarity. A lovely black coffee that isn't hot water drowning a beautiful espresso.
Time-wise, as you can see from this page everyone has different ideas! I kind of see it as a method that should be quicker than a pourover as there's active pressure involved, so I wouldn't want to go over a 90 second steeptime.
And as you currently smash the espressos I wouldn't bother trying anything remotely similar to espresso on the Aeropress.
Do you work at Monmouth?
Oh and angelasalt - just order one from Coffee Hit.
