The number on the seat tube is not the serial number but the date of production - 1293 refers to December 1993. I have a recently acquired Record - numbered 1088 which would make it October 1988. Numbers under the BB usually refer to seat tube sizing amongst other things.

Agreed with talboy.
@Enabler - 54cm is probably too small for somebody 6ft; 56/57cm would be nearer the mark.

I bought a Uniqlo full-zip merino top a few weeks back for £24.99 - lovely quality and perfect for cycling.
Some items on the website labelled as merino are not, though. For example, the full zip 'jacqard' is not even 100% wool (it's 70/30 mix); having said that, it is still excellent quality and worth the money.
Uniqlo has already put 'sale' prices on some of it's autumn season goods!

Rob removed the old knackered cotter pins from my Freddie Grubb - he has both the expertise and the tool (although it might actually belong to Eric Deeks); replaced with pins bought from Two Wheels Good in Stoke Newington if I remember correctly.
Like Edmundro, I don't put the bike through heavy usage, but they have worked a treat since replacement about three months ago.

Agree with cliveo to some extent - whole thing was rather overhyped - although the small vcc display tent had some interesting early day trikes. But some good stuff going on for kids - if only I was seven again!
Had a good ride though from North London, apart from getting lost in Canary Wharf and ending up in square full of BMW cars and salesmen - nightmare!
