Right then. I bought a new speedo yesterday from Lidl's for the princely sum of £3.90 just so I could join in on this thread. Took me 5 minutes to fit but 5 hours to set up and I'm still not sure it's correct. Anyways, went for a quick (or possibly slow) spin round the block and got a maximum speed reading of warp factor 1.819221216032059e-8
What cadence is that on 48:18 and do I need to try harder? -

i did a ride to southend last night
and done the 25 miles in 2 1/2 hoursand seems this is my first time on a bike in 2 years or any exersise for that matter
i forgot to eat yesterday
i ate at 5 pm and left at midnight without food and only water and didnt eat until i come inNow this is probably just me being cynical BUT you just did your first bike ride in 2 years setting out at midnight and riding 25 miles to Southend. Did you miss the last train home and (cough) improvise?
My first bike ride in many years was limited to round the block BTW.

+1 When I started to get fairly fast I would blast it everywhere and knacker myself out and probably be about 2 minutes quicker. Since then I try to flow through junctions, timing traffic lights and roundabouts.
On a similar vein, I had an off last year and took things easy for a while after a) to protect a sprained wrist and b) to regain my bottle. I did notice however that my average speed on a decent run stayed the same despite the slower riding.

Head straight out along the A2 to Shoters Hill and up to Welling. Not very steep but several hills in a row, of a fair distance.
Have you done Shooters Hill fixed? So far I've bottled out and gone round via either Plumstead Common or Eltham High Street on my random trips out from Welling (SSFG ghost town).
