so im after some bits. im looking to pay as little as possible but i may pay a bit more for nice stuff. most stuff i dont mind scratches and it being beaten up.
cranks - double, preferably with chainrings around 53/48 ish
bars - flat bars
brakes - the whole shebang would be good. just some dual pivot calipers and some mtb style levers to go on the flat bars
front mech - clamp on style bottom put for 2 speed
stem - 1" quill 8cm or less
singlespeed chain tensioner - one that goes in place of a derailleur, not the chain tug kinda things
freewheel - havnt made up my mind on size yet so anything goes
rear hub - 32 hole and hopefully like this because i have that front one -
there really is no need to get it back to raw. if anything it is a bad move because it will give you less scratch resistance. for a really nice job, just sand down the original paint and then primer over it and carry on as normal. you can just sand it and go straight to colour but a lot of paints are transparent and you will see any painted on decals etc through it and it can change the colour a bit from what you are expecting. i have a bmx and i have sprayed it a countless number of times. the best and most solid times where when i just sanded down the original paint until it was matte all over and then did a few light coats of colour followed by at least a whole can of laquer. halfords paint is the best ive managed to get hold of in just your average shop. and another tip, lots of light coats are better than a thick one. it is annoying because of the extra time but the results speak for themselves

i plainly have no idea at all. i have only been bmxing for 4 years and using chainring spacers for the most part to space out 10mm axles to 14mm dropouts in a situation that experiences a lot more force than on a track or road bike. if you have small nuts just put a washer behind the nut, i was trying to save you both time and effort by suggesting something that you most probably already have and you go and be an arse about it.

well i figured it would be cheaper to get that and bolt it ontop of my current post (a stock one from an old racer) than try and guess the size i have. it has the top part that goes in and it happens to be the same diameter as a quill stem. i dont have any callipers so i cant find out the size of the post to buy a new one. and also i would like a seat post wih no offset
do you think i could bash it over the top of my post or is it just too small?

@lobbster, I bought the saddle off another forum member (who shall remain nameless) under the impression that it was in perfect order, i got it home to find that the rail had a rather large crack in it, i used it as i had no other choice, it was fine as the crack is where you clamp on, just a little annoying as it squeaks when you ride!
i suspect it may be cracked right through but i don't want to go poking it around as it looks like it may not be
i will post if you want it
sounds ok. ghow much are you after posted? my bike sqeeks a lot anyway lol
