Does a rare 24 hole Suntour Superb Pro large flange track hub sound interesting?

Was gonna build it up with a carbon rim for the pursuit but would be open to selling it.

Would have come down if I was in London this weekend but I'm up in North Yorkshire with the Planet X team doing silly mileage up and down the steepest hills they can find...

I've ran the current Campagnolo Record Pista crankset on a Veloce BB (AC-H) on my Condor Pista with no issues. Only moved to the Record Pista BB when I built my S-Works (now sold to Chopsicle).

I use SPD-R's, changed over to them from clips and double straps which is what I had used on the track since I started in the 80's...

SPD-SL and Look work just fine as do Time (many Pro's in at the World Cup were on Time) and Speedplay.

Can't see any issue with SPD (MTB style) as long as they, and the cleat, are in good working order. Should hold the foot just fine.

23 is fine.

Most track tubs are 22. TT and Pursuit riders might use 19...

As for pedals. As long as your foot is secure in the pedal there should be no issue. On the indoor tracks they sometimes stop riders from riding with MTB clipless pedals.

it's nice... pitty I don't have the cash... would look great with the old Campagnolo Pista groupset I have waiting...

Sprinters like Mark Cavendish will hit 80 km/h in a sprint on the road. That's 50 mph.

Elite and 1st Cat Road Races here in the UK often end with sprint finishes that are over 65km/h (40mph)... so for the Pros to clock 80 off the back of a leadout train on closed roads is not surprising...

these 2 bikes were wrapped in such a way that they could not be ridden... as if someone had taken a roll of bubble wrap out into the street and wrapped any old random bike locked up in the street. Wheels and all.

Would be rather funny returning to your bike to find it covered in bubble wrap...

It was an hour getting to RP, an hour lapping it, and an hour home ... worth the effort though - was really peaceful cruising round. Would also be fun with others.

Was that 3hours on fixed?

World Cup level track racing in it's current form has been around since about 1995, so not as long as the Pro Road circuit. So the format is new and has not been grabbed by sponsors. It's also been a less popular form of cycling with less interest from the public, tho this is growing. It was set-up to help feed the World Champs and Olympics with the best riders from the the various nations of the world.

So now every nations has the chance of competing at world class level (normally there are 5 rounds to the World Cup) before the World Champs or Olympics. It is also used as a qualifying process for those events.

Six Day racing on the other hand has had hugh sponsor involvement from early on. It has always been a form of entertainment rather than a competition.

I'm sure we will see more and more trade teams competing in the World Cup events in the future. Can only be good for the sport. Eventually I think there will be more events in the circuit with some clashing. Same as the road is now, many of the big team compete in more than one event in different areas on the same day.

Boyd (my brother) and I did not make the final. One of the younger teams changes across me almost causing a crash (destroyed his Campag Pista rear wheel on my front wheel nut), that put me out the back chasing to get back on and then my lack of fitness kicked in. We eventually lost a lap... Finished 8th, first 7 went through to the final.

So as I had time on my hands I took some pics of the final. No point in wasting the trip to Newport...

I have a brake and lever in my parts box. Came of my GT when I fitted discs...
