- heavyly locked up with no pedals attached(i used those MKS detachable pedals).
- the seat was lock to the frame
- the rear wheel was locked to the rear trianagle with a Fahgettaboudit U-lock
- the front wheel was locked with an abus U-lock and tied all in with an Abus cable
dont know how they managed to get this as they left with everything
Sorry to ask stupid questions at a bad time - but were all these locks also secured to something immovable?

Sorry to derail the OP slightly but reading the stolen bike thread is so depressing - I'm now being put off cycling at all to locations where I know I'll need to leave my bike out of site for a while... and am becoming strangely drawn towards the unknown terrors of the folding bike!
I'm getting sorely tempted to go down the Brompton route for such occasions. Does anyone use one on a regular basis and find that it's a viable alternative to their normal whip over 15+ miles?
Unfortunately I can't shake the impression they'd make for a pretty frustrating (and, if I'm honest, slightly embarrassing) ride...?

So, the noise stops if you "hold the top tube and push downwards", presumably this takes your weight off the saddle? If it's also silent when standing... isn't it more likely to be the saddle rails/post than a frame crack?
I find the rear bolt on my Thomson post needs tightening every few months to stop the creaking...

sheesh mate, this type of shit is even more exasperating than the seemingly endless thievery going on. Decent locking practice can't protect you - in fact, it may even lead to it happening if the scummers realise they can't nick the bike and decide to go medieval on it instead!
It wasn't locked up somewhere that someone might have objected to was it? Brings back memories of this thread...

yep, I know :)
I was just pointing out the site and discount code mentioned in the thread - they have the Track too...

No frame I'm afraid - but if you are going to pull the trigger on the complete bike it might be worth checking this thread (if you haven't already)...

+1... i read this thread for two reasons, one being so I can keep an eye out for any of the bikes in question. To be honest though it's mainly for the selfish reason that if I see that one has been lifted from any postcodes I frequent, with an Abus and a Krypto D split open - I know that I need to raise my game!
-
-
Yup - I worded it badly but was wondering more about the Abus set up. Maybe they only had to cut the cable - then carry it out and deal with the D's later?
Either way, it's scary to think they would even look at a bike with 3 decent locks, in a lock-up, under CCTV, with guards and dogs when there must be easier pickings around?
We're all doomed I tells ye!
