P-plater Shegu Bobb was 19 when his car hit Hall
Why is it that cars always hit things, not the drivers who are supposedly in control?
19-year old on p-plates seems like he could have been really inexperienced. Low-light can be tricky even for experienced drivers (i.e. you need to understand the limitations of visibility, not that it's technically challenging somehow) so yeah, perhaps Mike Hall wasn't easy to see but that's just the "the sun was in my eyes" SMIDSY bullshit at a different time of day.

Slightly far from London but.. Looks like I'll be in Brisbane quite a few times a year for 10 days at a time for the foreseeable future. In other trips I've done a bunch of river rides, done Coot-tha and will probably take in Mt Nebo/Mt Glorious next time I'm in town in a month or so. What I'm looking for is some 3-4 hour rides to take in a bit of the coast or interior but never be so remote that I die, entrails eaten by koalas if I get a few punctures. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm going to be traveling a fair bit for work over the next year and after some nice but slightly pricy hire bikes figure it'll be as cheap to take my own bike. I'll be taking the over-built Kinesis Tripster AT and have been looking at the Scicon 3.0 bag but wondered how "real world" use is. My old Evoc bag was fine but felt like it was more by luck than careful packing that my old cheap Chinese carbon didn't get smashed to crap.
Also. the decals on the wheel areas, are they removable or printed on quite solidly?

To be fair it happens everywhere. A colleague got bitten last week on a ride here in Luxembourg as the farmer left his gate open and his dogs were out on the farm track and after nipping at his heels as he rode up the track, one got a couple of bites in as they passed the farm. No lasting damage luckily.

That justgiving page doesn't exist any more which is odd. I checked a mate's page from 5 years ago and it's still there so maybe he didn't finish it after all. Obviously there's a myriad of reasons you don't complete events.
Nm... bit of strava stalking and it seems he did complete... https://www.strava.com/activities/620902779/overview
Guess he's just chilling out a bit

Thanks. I called a hotel I used to stay at in Cologne (Azimut on Hansaring) and they were pretty relaxed about me taking a bike into the room and I know the rooms are quite large. I’ve done it at ibis before but it’s hit and miss sometimes.
I’m in Koblenz next Saturday riding down from Cologne but only for lunch and a bit of tyre kicking at Canyon before a train home

From looking at skinny's maps it looks like riders will be coming through Luxembourg. It'll be a short country visit but if anyone wants any local "knowledge" let me know. Word of advice though, if you're rolling through late night, there's VERY little open even in the city (unless you're stopping to go clubbing). Also, keep an eye out for early morning weekend piss-heads, it's still very much a drink-driving culture here.

I see another racer fixed his dynamo cable
The thing is, from what he posted, it doesn't seem like it was hard to fix. The cable snapped (I'd guess rubbed through ) so anyone with a bit of tape and a pen knife who has half a clue could have done it. Why he could neither see it nor fix it once seen, who knows?
just before sunrise and just after sunset are the worst times usually... even flashing rear lights can be hard to see. At night unless there's loads of traffic and they get lost in the visual clutter, they're not that hard to see. In the countryside with no other real lights, should be easy to see a flashing light if you're paying attention.
Of course, the articles indicate this guy was staring at a truck that wasn't in the right place or some such rather than paying attention to what was in front of him. Pre-dawn light + not too much attention... well...
