I think they can, but they only have single ristretto on their menu ASFAIK, which isn't what I like. Weirdly, the first time I visited I ordered a double, and they brought me 2 singles by accident.
Who know's maybe it will improve, its only been a few weeks open, but right now it seems like they've jumped on the bandwagon of the minimal coffe house boom.

As much as I love the name Department of Coffee and Social Affairs, I have so far found their coffee underwhelming and overpriced for what it is. The espresso's I've had there so far have been kind of bland in flavour in comparison to some of the great shots other London coffee shops are pulling. The flat white was more milky than microfoam perfection...
Also, no single espresso option on their menu?

Anyone been to Wild and Wood on New Oxford St? http://www.wildandwoodcoffee.co.uk/
Never on any of the lists, but they're serving Monmouth at a very competitive price, really friendly and are pretty much always quiet...
I always pass it on bike but have never been in, I think I'll head there now as it's close by and I am in need of a good coffee.

I work at the Design Against Crime Research Centre, and we are working on a project in association with the Design Council, which attempts to address problems of residential bicycle theft. I know there have been reports in the stolen bikes thread of people having their bikes stolen from inside their home, gardens, etc. So if you have been a victim of bicycle theft from the home, we would value your input into our survey. Please see this [thread[B]](http://www.lfgss.com/thread56842.html)

I work at the Design Against Crime Research Centre, (part of St Martins School of Art and Design, London) and we are working on a project in association with the Design Council, which attempts to address problems of residential bicycle theft. I know there have been reports in the stolen bikes thread of people having their bikes stolen from inside their home, gardens, etc. So if you have been a victim of bicycle theft from the home, we would value your input into this survey. See below:
Two thirds of all bike thefts are from domestic spaces, including garages, gardens and sheds, and this survey is attempting to determine exactly how people store their bikes in and around the home environment and what, if any, security measures they take to deter thieves.
The survey is being undertaken by Bikeoff and the Design Against Crime Research Centre for the Design Council which wants to try and help bicycle owners to help themselves to keep their bikes secure at home. To do this the Council will launch a design competition to encourage UK businesses to develop secure residential bike storage solutions.
The Design Council will fund development of the best ideas and help to get the designs into the market in the hope that residential bike theft will become harder to achieve for thieves.
Bikeoff is a research initiative of the Design Council’s Design Against Crime Research Centre in London and was set up four years ago to research how the design of cycling related products and services can reduce cycle theft and increase cycle use. The Design Council has asked Bikeoff to research and write the competition briefs to which UK businesses and designers will respond.
Apart from the British Crime Survey there is little data out there that tells us about how residential bike theft occurs. Consequently, Bikeoff are conducting an online survey to ask cyclists how they store their bikes at home and, if they have had their bike stolen from their home, how it happened.
Bikeoff will use the responses to brief designers and businesses on the most common theft scenarios so that they can come up with designs that have the best chance of addressing the problems British cyclists typically face when attempting to keep their machines secure.
The survey is running over the Christmas period between from today December 20 until January 3. We are keen to hear from as many cyclists as possible, all responses will be anonymous and the data will not be used for any other purpose.

I've been cycling through different Monmouth beans this month, from their Organic espresso blend, Guatemala Finca Santa Clara, and now Costa Rica Finca Las Lajas.
The Organic espresso blend is still my favourite, really nice floral aroma / sweetness.
Since I got an aeropress though, I haven't touched the stove top pot again. It tastes 'tainted' compared to how clean the brew is in an aeropress. Maybe it needs a proper clean.

Just popped into the new Notes coffee, cafe and music shop on St Martins Lane, which opened yesterday. Really amazing inside, and the coffee bar is something special in itself.
Its run by Fabio from Flat Coffee Cart on Strutton Ground, so really good espresso as always. I tried the HasBean Kicker blend today, which has strong notes of Lemon.
Worth checking out if you are near Trafalgar square / Covent Garden.

Best £20 I've spent this year.
But with that Cafetiere thermos thing, wouldn't the coffee or tea just keep brewing stronger and stronger until you drink it? It says pushing the plunger down stops the brewing, but I don't see how.

Also done. Although the website says it will block copied/pasted messages, so I changed it a little.
Edit: Thank you for your email.
Baroness Ludford signed Written Declaration 81 this afternoon.

Got a huge piece of glass stuck in my tyre this morning. It has now left a 5-10mm deep gash, which when at full pressure is more noticable. Its a brand new Michelin Krylion so I don't want to lose it to this hole. Is there anything I can fill it with? Superglue, rubber glue..?
