Hmm, interesting discussion (neutering/spaying) thanks.
I’m very conflict averse so wouldn’t give grief to the owners of any bitches in heat but it feels like the responsible thing to do.
If it looks like having our dog spayed will prevent him drawing the attention of other complete males then I’ll be all for it, but not until he’s out of his teens.

What are the ethics/consensus on spaying/neutering?
We’ve got an absurdly timid lab/spaniel 9-month old dog - everyone has advised us to not get him snipped because the hormones should hopefully improve his confidence. The implication seems to be that the onus is on the owners of bitches to get them spayed.
Our dog is good off-lead but I doubt we’d have any chance recalling him against a bitch-in-heat scenario. Would anyone?

I’ve got a few pairs of these and like them. I’d say go a bit lower on pressure - I’m 82kg and run 35psi. I’d probably go lower but the front tyre gets squirmy and messes up the steering.
I’d also suggest latex tubes - the difference is really noticeable in these mid-size, kind-of-supple tyres.
Conti grand pri urban are a step up IMO. Again latex tubes, and I THINK the tan wall are more supple than the black.

I’ve developed a hyper vigilance in the park and usually spot wayward dogs far enough away to head in a different direction. If the other dog looks chill or is on lead I’ll venture closer to show my guy there’s nothing to be afraid of.
Recently I’ve started saying hello and really actively engaging any dog that comes over. Petting them, speaking to them etc - that seems to really help calm down my guy and prevent the uninvited stranger from getting aggressive/chases. But I can’t get to all of them.
My dog oddly seems just as scared when there’s no dog around (we routinely go to the park 5:30am). Like he can’t believe there’s nobody about and they must be hiding/waiting to pounce. Then he sees a squirrel and he’s off and all is forgotten for 10 seconds….

Anyone got any experience of mega-anxious/timid dogs? I’ve got a 8-month old spaniel/lab mix who has been scared of everything since we got him at 12 weeks. Life has been one long fear period for him
He’s particularly scared of other dogs (who pick up on his weirdness and chase him if I can’t intercept them) but he’s never been pinned or bitten that I can tell
Around the house and with people he knows he’s great - quick learner/keen to please/okay being alone/goes to his bed on demand, but he hasn’t warmed to any men except me and is very wary of strangers (fine with kids though)
We had a trainer for the first few months, but my feelings are she sees too many over-socialised dogs and so warned us off getting him around too many dogs. We don’t have any reliably good dogs amongst friends and it’s a lottery at the park.
Vet has suggested some behaviourists but I haven’t got endless money to throw at him, and I was underwhelmed with the previous trainer. Aren’t they just going to give the classic ‘gradually expose him to stressful environments until he’s relaxed/give him treats etc’ advice?
There’s YouTube trainers in America who do ‘board and train’ things where he could be exposed to known Good Dogs and actually learn that they can be fun (I feel like it’s going to take days…)
Any experience/advice greatly appreciated

Any tips how to stop straight-pull spokes from coming loose (at least I assume this is what’s happening)?
Brand new prime attacquer wheels, rim brake. Been for a few rides, every time I get home to realise a 5mm buckle and several very loose/rotated non-drive spokes. Non drive spokes are crossed but not interlaced - could that be a build error?

I’ve been a guest 20+ times in Spain, France, Portugal, USA and hosted my first guest a few weeks ago (cycle tourists avoid Birmingham I guess…).
Overwhelmingly positive experiences - i thought they’d changed their model so that you have to pay to host, which sounds mad. But maybe that didn’t happen.
Site functionality could be better (will they ever do an app?) but apart from the iffy name I love the whole thing. I heard a few negative reports from hosts about previous guests (treating their home like a hotel was the biggest concern). I always made a point of being up for hanging out/chatting, but also self-sufficient if they are busy, and bringing some small token of thanks.
As a host I’m not massively bothered - I’ve benefitted so much I’m more than happy to cook/wash/fix bikes etc. might be different if I lived on a popular route and was bombarded with requests.
It’s always acceptable (recommended?) to stipulate your expectations in advance IMO

Giant carbon rim, pilar bladed spokes, halo hollow-axle hub, barely used, maybe 300 miles max. Slight scuff to the logo on one side. Very light. Fixed/fixed hub. No brake track on the rim! £130
Mixed 105 10 speed group set. Very low wear - chain is at .5% on my checker (I foolishly split it with an extractor before I spotted the masterlink - probably best to fit a new one!) 175mm chainset, 50/34x scratch to the back from incorrectly set-up front mech, 27t cassette, short mech, (doesn’t include the cable lock!). £110
Pair of gp5000 28c clincher tyres - very low wear, central moulding still visible in most places, only one nick about 3mm long £50
More pics available on request. Located in Solihull so prices include postage (will reduce for local collection)
Thanks!

I’m looking for an older ‘cross’ frame or frameset (ideally not full-on ‘cross - I prefer sloping top tube, bottle mounts, guard mounts etc).
Must be q/r, preferably aluminium, excellent if it’s tapered steerer.
Anyone got anything knocking about? I’m in Birmingham, so likely it would need to be posted.
Thanks!

I’m not saying it’s impossible to make a creak-free press-fit BB, but Cannondale have failed widely, repeatedly and notoriously. And comparing BB30 to BSA threaded BBs and even hollow tech BBs is chalk and cheese in terms of durability, user-friendliness and creakiness.
Shimano can obviously manufacture and press some big-ass bearings into a tube of their own with very high consistency. A BB shell is a million miles away from the tube of a square taper BB. It doesn’t get welded for a start.
-
Haha, yeah. Bad mechanical skills in the way i wielded my money when I bought the bikes.
They creaked from the factory-installed BBs after not many miles; nobody should have to do anything to a new bike to stop it creaking, and BBs should last many thousands of miles before going rough/developing play. If they creak a bit then, then fair enough I suppose.
Given how minuscule (actually unmeasurable) the ‘advantage’ of press-fit is over threaded it’s just bad design/engineering.
