horrific weather, you say? around this time last week, i thought i was moving to a small island in the caribbean. when those plans changed, i got extra excited for first-world riding conditions- completely forsaking weather. ice? snow? blustery cold? what am i packing for? and thanks for the heads-up on mechanics in the area. much obliged, excited to piece together a franken-whip with your help.

hi there.
was excited to see people are riding fixed in newcastle. i'm moving there from the states in a few weeks. have been a (fairweather)courier/mechanic/rider/enthusiast for a few years now (philadelphia, chicago, washington DC). Do you travel elsewhere for events and alleycats? are there are enough events to warrant shipping my loyal steeds, or is there somewhere in town to buy a new budget ride to kick around on for the year?
(my primary steed)
that picture is about 3 years old. she's been on a crash-and-upgrade scheme. thus, stem/headset/fork have changed, but the look has not. (is a converted px-10, powdercoated in '06 to stop body rust).
cheers, and perhaps, see you soon.
ugh. salt. (definitely not bringing my bikes, then) i had a bad salty winter in chicago last year, and it ate one of my tange/mangalloy frames to death. i had a short commute to work, but it was below minus 17 for the first two weeks of the year. tears-frozen-to-cheeks, hurts-to-breathe cold. haaaaate. will make a point to pack fenders.
it was sunny and 19c in DC today. epic riding for my last day as a courier
