these type of older rims were the norm but generally phased out in the late 70's in favour of the narrower hooked modern rims, older style touring tyres were fine on them if inflated between 60/80 psi (if you had a need for lighter rims you bought sprints and tubs) most modern tyres especially folding warn not to use on this type of earlier non hooked rim.....most bike shops should be able to source you a decent 700/28 tyre that would fit ok though

if genuine the marque Umberto Dei is considered to be the "Bugatti Royale" of the bike collecting world.....will go to Japan or the States for sure, the seller obviously knows what these bikes are worth but if the seller is a proper enthusiast they would be more descriptive and lots of close up photos

lacquer or clearcoat over an unpainted frame was a popular fad for racing cyclists back in the earkly 50's........also it showed how well built the frame was, looks good!

I've acquired a couple of these 36 hole front hubs recently but as yet have never seen a matching rear, can anyone give me a pointer where I may be able to find one? all I know is they are from the DDR (E.Germany) they seem cheaply made but are attractive nevertheless
