@campervangogh Saw this in the paper yesterday and was CONVINCED I had seen it before but no idea where or how until checking this thread again today. Bit hot out isn't it?

First try of a New Zealand mince pie. Coupland's "Fruit Mince Tarts". Fucking tiny, thick pastry, over sweet filling. Not a good start. Have to call them fruit mince tarts here as a mince pie is a pie with minced beef (often with cheese) that is a staple lunch item. Need to test out the supermarket mincers next.
That is a AAA battery for size comparison. -

Late spring here in NZ, so veggies are coming on. Also have carrots in half barrels with nice loose soil/sand, tomatoes, raspberries being eaten by the birds even with netting, redcurrants doing nothing but growing leaves, herbs growing like mad and a beech tree that thinks it is autumn and is covering the place with dead leaves.

@vp1337 It just says "Cro-Mo". Mine is a 1994 BV SE -in 1994, this model and down used the basic CroMo Rockstar fork, the higher models used either the 750g Lite or 690g UltraLite forks. Yours looks like a 1992 with the small Bear Valley SE decal on the top tube, in which case it would have come with the 750g fork. Mine had big letters right along the top tube - see photo below of when I first got it, it was original with full Shimano STX Special Edition group (only made in 1994). I've also attached a 1992 BV SE catalogue shot.

No they are "Phillips" brand, a range of components sold here in NZ in most bike shops. Not budget but not flash either. Not as well made as SKS but not far off, same construction. Just a bit short. The frame's rear chain stay and seat stay bridges are both drilled and threaded so you can get a neat fix point without the need for the clips.

@MisterMikkel Thanks! They are actually 2 different cats, sisters that are pretty hard to tell apart; one is slightly smaller than the other and one has bigger ear tufts, but we still need to check their collars at times to be sure. Also, they are called Hocus and Pocus, so both respond to the other's name when called.

He hit me side on as I was going forward. Luckily, I bounced off and away from the car, but he kept going, onto my bike, dragging it a few more meters. The initial impact was probably 5-6 meters behind this picture. He was 85 years old and could hardly walk, so no chance of performing an emergency stop. I even had time to think 'he's seen me, he's going to stop' before he hit me. Luckily I was not injured at all and his insurance paid up. Police did not attend ("as I was not injured and they were busy"), so I guess he is still driving.

Crushed Kona Paddy Wagon replaced with non-crushed Paddy Wagon. First one was an insurance replacement from Evans in 2007. Probably got ~40k commuter kms out of it. New one is a 2009 frame + parts bin stuff + some nice Goldtech/Open Pro wheels I bought a few years ago for the track but never used. Have been commuting on an old 90s mountain bike for the last 6 months, fixed this morning felt a bit wierd, but good.

@AlphaOmega What is the seat post diameter? I am in the process of building up one of those PW frames.

New Project.
Avanti Revolution 90s New Zealand mountain bike.
The paint was pretty shit so stripped it all off to find shiny, shiny chrome all over. Not sure what to do now though, can you powdercoat over chrome? Or how easy is it to paint over it? Maybe build it up as it is. It will either be a full period correct rebuild or some some semi modern stuff, depends on cost of 90s Suntour XC components. -
Had the first instance of one of our cats not coming home last night. Didn't think I would get so upset or lie in bed thinking all the bad thoughts of her being hit by a car, bitten by a dog, taken for dog fighting bait(??!!), cat-napped for a pet etc etc. Rather than thinking that she was probably locked in neighbour's garage, which turned out to be the case.

@sensom I'm looking to do something similar to one of my bikes and I am trying to find online retailers for Sram Force1 / CX1 that will ship to Aus/New Zealand. Everywhere I have tried so far will not ship Sram products here. Race View Cycles seem to be the only one, but there are lots of horror stories of lost orders, poor service etc. Do you know of any others? The prices here are fucking astronomical, especially as I don't want a full group, just levers, rear mech and cassette.

When my gf and I were living with my mother-in-law, she gave me so much grief re helmets that I ended up leaving the house with one on, go up the road, take it off and hide it under a bush before going on a ride and then recovering it before going home. Got found out when she somehow happened to be driving along the same narrow country lane as me one day. We then moved to New Zealand where we have a mandatory helmet law.

@anthonyj Yes, on antibiotics, which was fun this morning trying to get her to swallow the pill. She seemed a bit spooked yesterday evening and night as expected - keeping very close to us on the sofa, sitting on our laps and wanted to sleep on our bed, which is unusual for her. Was fine this morning though, probably pissed off with the clumsy pill administration, and is currently playing with her sister in the garden, doing forward rolls over each other. Has to go back to the vets tomorrow for check up, bite marks look a lot better already.
@Jaap Any idea what the handlebar bag on the All City Macho Man is?
