Thanks, it makes sense the DAC would have the greatest effect on quality.
I don't have anything on the NAS at a particularly high Res (basically a lot of ripped CDs and torrented MP3s from the early 00's), but I'd like to future proof myself against Spotify, or similar, offering higher quality streaming at some point.
I might try to get into Richer Sounds to have a listen to the CA streamer to get a feel for an all in one

Have just picked up a new system: Rega P6, elixir-r, Apollo-r and Harbeth M30.1. Absolutely loving it – many thanks to @BRM for recommending Radlett audio, Dave is really knowledgeable and lovely guy.
The only thing I’m missing from the system is a streamer/DAC. Previously I’ve had a chromecast audio feeding into a cheap DAC then into an amp. I’ve then cast from Spotify or BubbleUpnP/my NAS from the phone when I’ve needed.
Is it better to get a decent DAC (like the Benchmark DAC3) then a cheapish streamer I use via a phone/tablet, or whether it’s worth getting a combined DAC/streamer (like the Cambridge audio CZN V2) that supports Spotify connect? Looking at prices, I can’t stretch to both a decent DAC and high-end streamer.
I guess it boils down to me not really understanding the importance of the streamer quality. Is it a bit like HDMI cables, that as long as the signal gets to the DAC it’s fine, or does a higher quality streamer offer better sound quality?

I'm looking to upgrade my current system (Rega RP1 perf pack, KEF Q7 and Yamaha AS501) to something a bit better, spending around £5k. Can anyone recommend a dealer they trust? I'd be up for building a system up myself, but trawling forums is only adding to my confusion.
I'm in E9, but would happily travel most places in London

I take it everyone else's Fbook feed has been full of this: http://kelvinroaster.com?
Looks suspiciously like a jazzed-up air popcorn maker, but can't help but be tempted by a new coffee gadget...

I live round the corner from you (well, Westcombe Park) and have looked after the parents-in-laws whippets pretty regularly.
They're not the best trained in the world, but Greenwich park is absolutely fine - you just had to wait a while until they get bored/have scared all the squirrels off. Just be prepared for the one rare occasion they do manage to catch something...
They're a male and a female and to FourGreenFields' point, the female is better at returning.
Have to admit I didn't know much about the breed; but they are fantastic dogs and perfect for relatively small spaces if you can get them out for a good stretch of the legs and are around most of the time.

Thanks - although I think it's more along the lines of this, with no adjustment:
It's held in by deep-filler to the wall, so not easy to readjust. Was hoping there would be some sort of adjustable socket face that I could use instead? If not, I assume I'll just have to remove one of the patresses and re-fix?

Made this isolation box over the last couple of weeks - had made no obvious audible difference, but it was fun to make. It's some sort of 2" x 3/4" hardwood (leftover in the garage) with 4 x sorbothane feet, 0.2mm black glass beads/sand and a 25mm granite slab.
Pretty pleased with it as long as I don't look too closely at the joints...
Am thinking about getting an acrylic base cut with levelling feet, but looking online it'll cost about a third of the turntable so that might have to wait a while.

I read loads about the potential benefits of baby aspirin (the size of the dose is lower than a standard aspirin). I'd definitely consider it if I was at risk of an unprovoked DVT again, although I don't know all the potential risks.
I've read a few studies (this for example: http://archinte.jamanetwork.com/mobile/article.aspx?articleid=611391) that were looking at the impact of aspirin vs warfarin on post op patients risk of DVT.
From memory haven't seen anything on its impact after a DVT has already been suffered.

Right, not sure if I can be OT given the title of the thread, but...
I need a way of linking a USB 2.0 NFC reader to a Samsung Tab E while also supplying charge to the tablet via micro USB (alongside the data). Does anyone know if an adapter exists? I've tried using a Lava-Link but it's not compatible with the Tab E.

Got a pair of Mrice E300s today - only been listening for a few hours, but for £15 the sound is excellent (although probably not as good as Wired have been making out http://www.wired.com/2015/06/mrice-e300/).

I spent an unhealthy amount of time reading up on DVT online after suffering mine, I couldn't find anything that robustly gave an opinion on aspirin (there were limitations with all the studies). From what I understand, the other potential complications from medium- to long-term use of aspirin after a vascular could outweigh the slightly reduced risk of vascular "events".
I've had the Anticoagulation clinic at St George's hospital recommended if you can get a referral.

I'm looking to put wooden flooring throughout my new place, I'd ideally have some lovely original Victorian parquet but is waaay out of my price range and installation skills.
I've been looking at engineered wood (I've dreams of some electric underfloor heating) but all the samples I've seen so far look a little shit. Can anyone recommend a decent supplier?
