I just bought one of these mega expensive crotch protector saddles and I'm trying to think of a way to fit it to the bike without damaging the rails, incase it needs to go back. My best thought at the moment is wrapping the rails in paper, any other ideas?

hes not on board, hes on rail...
(all a bit hey guys and david brent on here)
There's a rail line between Newhaven and Dieppe? You should be doing this trip Jason, slacker. :phey gerald.
the train out of london bt seems to be undecided right now, some for and some against.
i'm hoping this will be resloved in suitable democratic fashion on wednesday evening - i'll let you know.I am meeting Pifko at something like 2pm at Waterloo, then I have to go home, pack my stuff in the bike, change the tyres etc. I will almost certainly be catching the train to Redhill because I won't have enough time otherwise.

Pifko and I have booked the ferry:
Newhaven to Dieppe - 23:00 (04:00), Friday 5th November
Dieppe to Newhaven - 18:00 (21:00), Monday 8th NovemberCheck-in information: You must check in at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure. If you're late, you may forfeit your place and in most cases no refund will be offered.
I have also booked the train:Newhaven to London Victoria - 21:33 (22:57), Monday 8th November
All that's needed now is the train to Redhill. Wanna get that booked soon too so it doesn't cost a bomb.

Dunno if you were replying to me but I meant could wools, benjam, laner confirm what they're doing as they haven't posted for a while. Also anyone want to buy any of these for the ride? I bought some cases/boxes this summer but then the car accident happened and I didn't get to use many of em. Expiry date is like March 2011.

ta2 - Ferry on 8th
Pifko - Ferry on 8th**Guys please confirm?
wools - wants to stay in Paris for a couple of days and ride back to London town
benjam - possible ditto
laner - few days in paris and cycle to get ferry back on the 8th
dancing james - refusing to come unless he can find a way to have clean rapha garments waiting for him in paris. -
My suggestions:
London Victoria to Redhill - Train @ 16:49 (17:22) or 17:21 (17:53) or 17:49 (18:21). Avoids all nasty roads in London, price £34.80 for 4 persons. Suggest 17:21 train; can get 17:49 if you miss it.
Redhill to Newhaven - Cycle 3 hours @ 12mph (pace 15mph in pitch black minus pee stops and punctures).

Get to Newhaven comfortably for 22:00, this should be our only deadline on whole journey.Newhaven to Dieppe - Ferry @ 23:00 (04:00)
Dieppe to Paris - Cycle, 04:30, arrival time approx 12:00 including pit stops -

Relatively new to forum rides but been thinking of doing London to Paris for a while so would be seriously tempted to join the group v. late if thats okay. Only problem is I need to be back in London for the evening of the 6th - unfeasible? Whats the ETA in paris?
I think you could easily get back for 8pm.

Option 2 sounds good for me too. So long as we keep a steady pace and don't push too hard on the way out (and eat plenty), then riding back up to Dieppe on the Sunday shouldn't be a problem, especially if we give ourselves plenty of time.
When I did the ride with Kristian in the summer we averaged about 16mph over about 265 miles. It would be nice to say we were cruising along at 22mph, but the flat sections were very few and very far between so don't be put off by the speed.
I *really *wouldn't count on the ferry being so punctual that you can get a 20:30 train. All it takes is some bad wind and you'll be an hour late, it's quite a long ferry journey.

laner - few days in paris and cycle to get ferry back on the 8thPifko and I had a look into staying until Tuesday (3 nights). Cheap B&B rooms w/2 single beds is £20/night/pp. Eurostar is £45 on Tuesday vs £75 on Sat/Sun, so total cost is only £30 more. Who is up for that?

After my accident a few weeks ago I tried going down the 'no win, no fee' route & I seem to be getting passed around from company to company. Is this normal?
Forget this and go speak to a real solicitor. If you have no chance of winning, they will tell you and then they will also tell you their price. If you have a good chance of winning the solicitor will not charge you anything as they'll be able to claim it back from the other person's insurance. In my case, my solicitor has not even quoted me his costs because he is so sure that I will win.
Nah I was just planning on riding a few miles around the big smog. I'm 90% sure that the saddle will be fine, however so far I've only sat on it on my computer chair... lol
Even if I just fit it in the living room and try it in there it'll damage the rails. You have to clamp it pretty tight or it'll get fucked up.
