After noticing the interest in learning to build wheels I have decided to put my skills to work. If anyone wants to know how then PM me. (ive built dozens of track/ road/ mtb wheels and im DT Swiss qualified)
Also if anyone just wants wheels built I will happily do so, Undercutting shop prices of course. Turnaround could usually be next day if required for 2 wheels.
Maybe should have posted this in Classified and shopping, but hey-ho.

the word 'look' has been used far too many times in this thread. Doesnt sound like you give a shit about what it looks like right? Velocity Deep v's (and i realise that im commiting sacrilige here) are not particuarly good quality rims, and only worth going for if u want the look. There will be no aerodynamic advantages to using such a wheel (its a single speed after all) aerodynamics are discountable unless your reachin 25 mph approx.
I would recommend A mavic open pro. Sports are noticably less robust. I have built wheels with all the rims talked about above and none of them build better than an open pro (or ultimately a dt swiss rr 1.1 but they are pricey)
Fuck the deep section, its so not necessary
I think im ready for the abuse ;) -
This is a seriously impractical bike for almost any use except actual timetrials. The bike is also hideously too small for him and a bit flash for a first roadbike, bear in mind damage will likely be done as he learns the finer points of roadbiking, this is a great bike for its purpose but is simply the wrong bike for what he sounds like he wants to do.

generally steel and carbon perform similarly in comparison to alu. Steel is so much cheaper and yes i guess it is style to.The flex that carbon and steel offer also irons out the stiffness of the wheels (big flanges) Probably just down to the way these types of bikes are used (ie in the city all the time) Its more down to why aluminium isnt used very much.
and i love both beer and weed, what a coincidence?
