Dibs pending how things go with a frame I am interested in. Should be viewing it tomorrow night so should be able to commit then.
Sorry to highjack the thread momentarily but what is the going rate for a Bianchi Pista (chrome) frame from a few years back, bought new and hardly used? Frame, forks, headset and stem.

Man, this guy has a serious chip on his shoulder with Beaumont. I havent read all his blog, just parts of his last entry. Beaumont's name is littered through it achieving nothing but showing the author in a very poor light. His obsession with Beaumont doing adverts has clouded his vision.
So, the feeling Im getting is, it is a bad thing to have Beaumont celebrated in the media and with that increasing the exposure of cycling and inspiring others. Including Julian Emre Sayarer himself to do the record, be it in spite or otherwise. I 'presume', as Julian does himself, Mark Beaumont does a lot more for promoting cycling than he does for himself through "selling out".

Anyway, good on that man, it is a great achievement. I reckon Beaumont would say the same.

Manchester is not the only track, there's nothing in the rules about it having to be a 250m track is there? Although money is an issue, there are plenty of tracks around the world with shallower, wider bankings, I even think Obree made an early attempt or at least a test at Herne Hill. Granted there are few indoor tracks larger than 250m but there are many "stadiumized" tracks completely protected from the wind with suitable bankings...Leipzig for instance which is 450m
He could have used other tracks with the advantage of higher altitude, gives riders an advantage somehow I cant remember how, but he wanted his record attempt to be a all British affair on British soil.
Im fucking gutted he will not be making another attempt. Obree is a legend.
Personally, I feel Glasgow's new velodrome should be named after Obree. Not Hoy, without due respect for Hoy, he may be racing there during the commonwealth games of 2014.

I was sat at the usual spot waiting on a job last week. No one else around, just me smoking a tab.
This guys comes walking along and comes up to me and asks me for a quid. I was like, "sorry mate" padded my trousers to signal I had no cash. He sits down next to me and asks "can I have cig off you?"
With my tobacco sitting between us, I could hardly refuse.
He begins rolling and we get talking. I get a better look at him and he has his front teeth missing top and bottom, reminds me of Compo with his scruffy clothes and tammy hat.
We get talking and he asks if that is my bike. "aye, it is". "Do you cycling around the city on it?" "Aye, thats my job"
"I run... Im a runner, I run around the city". Im thinking, fair enough. We get talking more, he claims he could beat to the other side of town and queries if I could do 100m on my bike in 7-8 seconds, I think about it and recon it must be about that. He says "yeah me too, running though"
wow so he is a total nutter. He finishes rolling and I offer him a light, which he refuses and says he must dash. Keeping with his story, he runs out onto the road onto a central reservation. Then this blows me away, he takes off down the middle of a 4 lane road running full pelt.

Yeah, it was a good laugh. Think it will be back on the West Coast next year. Eva and some of the Glasgow lot took a trip out to Millport and got all nostalgic, the hotel staff were missing the couriers asking where we were and that. Some of the Glasgow lot got their photo taken with the wee lassy that knocked the pikey out, haha, if you know that story.
Anyway, good meeting you, maybe our paths will cross at some point in the future, Westcoastpoloco or otherwise. Take it easy man.

We are hosting a big race at the end of the month and inviting all you fixed gear fans along. If you can make the trip north we would be well chuffed. The race will help launch the Scottish Bike Messenger Association and get the ball rolling on raising funds for it. Prizes for race winner and best costume.

Alright folks. We are holding an alley cat on Halloween, it is coinciding with the launch of the new Scottish Bike Messenger Association. We want to help our couriers with advice and support and getting the ball rolling with this alley cat. Anybody up for a race and good laugh in Edinburgh at the end of the month. Let me know.
