The Raleigh track frame is amazingly still straight - it is one of 17 originally made none of which were sold to the general public – its rarer than a Cinelli Laser – and extremely special – its exactly what Reg Harris used to win the world champs and was used by a handful of other world class riders back then with world champ wins. I would not expect it to be bought by somebody wanting to use it on the street… When will you find another for sale? I do not know of any others sold in the last ten years, several are still in the Raleigh collection either at Brooklands or in the Nottingham Industrial museum. That leaves very few out there… A Raleigh track frame of this period is one of the holy grails of track bikes. The top tube dents are part of its history. And if someone wanted a perfect frame a new top tube could easily be fitted though in my opinion I think it would detract rather rather add…

Period bicycle frames & partsPEUGEOT FIXED CONVERSION
Seat Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
Top Tube (ctc): 58cm (23in)
Wheel size: 700C
This Peugeot conversion came to me exactly pictured, it seems to work just fine – the chain is pretty well aligned, essential for a fixed conversion. It has a Campag Chorus chainset using a single 42T chainring combined with a 16T rear sprocket which gives about a 70in gear which would be fine for most riders. The chain is a bit rusty but I’ll throw in a better chain. The rear wheel is built on a steel rear hub – I don’t think it would stand up to a lot of use but the rim could be rebuilt onto a better hub… The front wheel has a Campag Tipo hub on a deepish section aero rim – so very useable. It has rather nice Galli steel grey brake callipers combined with Dia-Compe aero brake levers. £110**
MBK TRIATHLON ROAD BIKE c1988**
Seat Tube (ctc): 55cm (21.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Frame tubing; Columbus Cromor
Wheel size: 700C
These MBK frames ride really rather well and are built from Cromor tubing which is reasonably light and strong. The seatpost clamp is an especially neat design whilst the fillet brazed construction is also really rather good. Its equipped with Shimano 105 gears, headset, chainset, brake levers and 600 brake callipers. Wheels are Shimano 105 hubs with Rigida narrow section rims and some rather awful white spokes – whoever thought that was cool at MBK needed their head tested… And engraved MBK bars. But it does have a white Turbo saddle that does have (I think at least) cool patina. Its all in pretty sound condition and fresh bar tape would improve its appearance greatly. £165 -
OK yes its a deal. I will send you a PM with payment details unless you plan to collect from me in south Wales… Ah I see I cannot PM you - can you email through my website – see my signature.
regards
Hilary

Hi everyone, long time no see,
I’ve just been sorting some bikes that have come in accidentally with other bikes and frames. Two large (and I mean large) road bikes here – the first is a Holdsworth Elan and second is a Dawes Jaguar. Both are 1980s and sound and built from Reynolds 531 tubing but both need some tidying so are cheap….Shipping on bikes within the UK will be £20 – other items can ship free of charge in the same box. I can ship anywhere in the world at a reasonable cost.

Period bicycle frames & partsHOLDSWORTH ELAN c1983
Seat Tube (ctt): 24.5in (62.25cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 23in (58cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 butted main tubes & 531 forks
Seat tube size: 27.2mm
This Holdsworth Elan is in very sound condition but is a bit scruffy. It has Suntour VX gears combined with SR chainset, Weinmann 500 brakes, GB engraved bars and stem, Saddle is a scruffy Turbo on a SR aero seatpost. Wheels are Suzue QR hubs on Super Champion (later known as Wolber) Gentleman narrow section rims. Needs a bit of a tidy-up nut nothing serious or would make a cheap and easy singlespeed or fixed conversion. £115DAWES JAGUAR ROAD BIKE
Seat Tube (ctt): 25.5in (65cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 23in (58cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Frame tubing; Reynolds 531 butted main tubes
Wheel size: 700C
The Dawes Jaguar was Dawes’ top road bike I think in the early 1980s and is built from Reynolds 531 butted main tubes with not too gappy clearances. It has Suntour VX gears combined with SR chainset, Maillard hubs with 700C Weinmann concave rims, Weinmann 500 brakes, SR stem with GB engraved gold anodised bars in nice condition and great Bluemels Shorty aluminium guards. Its mostly in very good condition. Make an easy budget singlespeed or fixed conversion for a TALL rider… SOLD -

Top Tube (ctc): 22.5in (57cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Reynolds 501
This Raleigh Record Sprint is in wonderful immaculate original condition and can have done only a very few miles. The frame is built from Reynolds 501 tubing. It has Suntour 6spd indexed gears, Suntour chainset, Dia-Compe brakes, black rims. This is near to new as you will get. Really very striking. SOLDFONDRIEST GAMMA ROAD BIKE

Top Tube (ctc): 55cm (21.5in)

Fondriest road bikes like most Italian road bikes ride really nicely. This frame is nicely made from Columbus Gara tubing and is in very sound useable condition with not too many marks and the chrome is very good. Its equipped with a Campagnolo 8-speed gear system – mostly Avanti. It has Campag Xenon aero brake levers, Campag Gran Sport brakes and Avanti chainset. Bars and stem have been upgraded to a really nice 3TTT set. Wheels have Fir clincher rims combined with 8spd cassette hubs. Its generally in really quite nice condition but does need a new chain and presuambly cassette too. SOLD -
Hi everyone, long time no see,

Period bicycle frames & partsCLAUD BUTLER REGENT TOURER 1991
Seat Tube (ctt): 21in (53cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 22in (56cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531
This Claud Butler Regent dates I think from about 1991. It has 6spd Shimano Altus gears, Shimano 105 dual pivot front brake and Weinmann side pull rears, Maillard hubs with 700C rims, Stronglight 80 chainset (this will take chainrings down to 28T and can easily be converted to a triple), Kalloy/Ritchey seatpost and Claud Butler handlebars and SR stem. The wheels are a mixture of Shimano hubbed rear on a no-name rim and I’m not sure what the front wheel is but it has an aluminium rim and rusty spokes. It needs a new chain and almost certainly a freewheel and would probably benefit from a better pair of wheels.
But the frame is in excellent condition and the paint has only a few marks. £110http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r77/hilarystone/Claud-Butler-Regent-lfgss_zps5a21804c.jpg

SARACEN SKYLINE TOURER late 1990s
Seat Tube (ctt): 23.5in (59cm), 22.5in (57cm) ctc
Top Tube (ctc): 22in (56cm)
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C
This Saracen Skyline tourer dates from the 1990s and has a sloping top tube which is great for a touring bike offering higher handlebars combined with increased standover height. I don’t know what tubing its made from and must be pretty good quality as it uses a 27.0mm seatpost. And the frame has braze-ons for racks front and rear, mudguards and bottle cages. The paint has only a few marks. It has an 8spd Shimano Sora groupset, ITM Randonneur style bars and stem. Rear wheel is an upgrade with Shimano 105 rear hub and 8spd cassette. Font hub is Miche and both rims are Mavic. All in all an excellent tourer. £195http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r77/hilarystone/Saracen-Skyline-tourer-lfgss_zpsd271d500.jpg

Many of you may remember when I sold through LFGSS a few years back. I then set up hilarystone.com a site for classic bikes and their parts. We have had someone helping us on a freelance basis for one to two days a week for the past three years packing frames, bikes and wheels, stripping bikes, cleaning frames and parts and taking photographs. He now has a full time job and we need to replace him. Ideally someone would be able to do two to three days a week – we have steadily grown. And in a perfect world have worked on bikes before though training will be given as and where necessary. So do not hesitate if you do not have much experience – just fixing or fiddling with your own bike would be a good start.
We are based in South Wales near Ebbw Vale so would suit someone from South Wales but our previous freelancer used to travel by train from Bristol and as with him we'd cover transport costs.
If you are interested please ring me on 01495 370552 or 0797 104 3290 or message me.
