Cornelius, that is very true. I just wanted another opinion to make sure I wasn't getting totally ripped-off. to be honest, i was so infatuated by the massive number of desirable frames on the site, that I hadn't thought that this one might have been crashed.
When the frame is all the way over in Japan it undoubtedly helps to have someone more knowledgable to give you a few hints. it would be like buying a house with only a glance-over because you fell in love with it at first sight. Then only to have a surveyor come tell you it's full of rot and is going to end up costing you about 3 times what it did in the first place!
Now that I've thought about this frame a little more, I think I would prefer to buy something that I could see and touch first!
-
Uh-oh... big dicussion coming on!
Why would the Japanese learn from the Italians? I'm not arguing your point, Ed, just curious.
i've ridden a couple of Vivalos and they ride sooo sweet. Admittedly, I haven't ridden a Mercian or Bob, but the detailing on the Vivalo has swung me.
So... maybe I should check out Bob - I like the idea of custom and new!
-
Pending sale of some bike/random stuff, I'd like to get a Vivalo.
After searching around on this forum it seems like the guys njs-keirin blogspot or whatever it is have the most reliable business going on.
This frame here works out to about £510 with shipping.
http://njs-keirin.blogspot.com/2009/08/vivalo-silver-grey-no2.html
Would I be better off getting an Italian number from BLB or Tour de Ville? £500ish seems like a lot for a frame that is slightly marked and 8 years old!
Wise opinions please!

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of getting a NJS frame from the guys over at njs-keirin.blogspot and thus I think I'm going to have to sell my current bike.
It's a 2008 Fuji Track Pro with all the original parts except:
Fizik Arione Saddle
Truvativ Hussefelt Bars
Oury Grips
Thomson Stem
Thomson Seatpost
KMC ChainAll in all about £280 of upgrades on a £700 bike.
What do you think this puppy would be worth?
I need to work out if it would cover my costs (sort of at least!).
Its a size 58cm.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Hi Guys,
I have for sale a new pair of Shimano R160 SPD-SL shoes (road type) in silver, size 47.
These are 1 level down from their top of the range shoe and are amazingly stiff and lightweight.
They feature a full carbon sole and heat mouldable heel and sole (Condor cycles can sort them for you).
They haven't yet been moulded and worn on one v.short ride on which I realised that they were too small, hence the sale.
I will include a pair of Shimano cleats (if you want them, otherwise I'll keep them) which retail around £15 and the shoes themselves go for £160.
I'm offering these as new, perfect condition for £115 ono.
Collect Central London or I could deliver if needs, no postage.
Pm me if interested, first PM has first dibs.

I just like the absolute convenience of the strapless pedals... I ride the bike only for short distances. On other fixies I have/normal bikes I have clips and yes, they are way more efficient but for this beater which is a hop on/hop off bike, I think flats are fine.
What would be the advantages of a strap on this sort of bike?

Here's the Peugeot I bought from BleakReference some months ago.
It's had very little spent on it - mainly parts that I already had bar the c/ring and sprocket and tyres.
The seatpost (24.0mm) proved impossible to find apart from the one on ebay that went for about £50! So... I made one out of an old handlebar and then put an old-style saddle clamp on top of it and it works pretty well.
Just waiting on a brake cable now and then I'm sorted. I think it looks quite tidy and it actually rides nicely, a lot more responsive than I thought!
Some stuff still available here folks... Anyone... Offers?
