thanks for the bumps guys! maybe I formulated my sentence wrong, but what I meant to say is that I didnt find 'one single thread that allows you to announce a stolen bike'. I did a search, found loads of ''my bike is stolen'' threads, but it would not be appropriate to post at the end of one of those for obvious reasons. None of you sent me to a thread that allows you to simply post what has been stolen, so...
but thanks anyways for reading and keeping your eyes open.

Hi Guys & Girls,
Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place for this thread, using the search function I couldn't find a single ''stolen bikes'' thread, and all the other related threads seem to have been posted in general. If i'm in the wrong place please let me know where I can get the word out.
As for the stolen bikes, my girlfriend & flatmates bikes were stolen out of our garden wednesday night... girlfriend is really gutted (and I am too since I built it for her!), and of course its totally my fault since a momentary lapse in paranoia allowed me to leave it in the garden in the first place.
The bikes are: 1. a white On One Pompino in 49cm size, with the decals taped up, silver riser bars with teal grips and a fat grey / blue bmx stem, and a white charge saddle. Wheels are alexrims cheapies.
- fairly standard blue threaded model Fuji Track, size 52cm, with silver risers and white ourys.
If you see either of these bikes on brick lane or when doing your usual rounds on ebay or gumtree please please give me a message or email on c.ferstad[at]gmail.com
They were stolen out of the back of our house on wilton way (in dalston), next to the prince george pub, many of you will know this one ;)
we all know the moral of the story for this and other too frequent tales... i'm kicking myself REAL hard on this one. UGH.
Thanks a lot for reading, and thanks for your help...!

its not TOO far off the mark... g5s are still quite good for video if you're editing & processing HD tv stuff (as you mention edy)...
refurbed g5s go for around 1200 it seems:
http://www.scrumpymacs.co.uk/buy/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66_2&products_id=454ebay may be cheaper but you don't get security of buying from a forum member...
plus it seems final cut pro is installed (which version though??) which is about 800£ in the store. and cs3... even if you were to ''download'' these programs that is A LOT of effort (fcp is like 60gb of DVDs...)

HI guys,
I want to give my friend a cheap way to get around town on 2 wheels... I've currently lent him an old geared alu bike i have, but its waaay too small for him and I fear for his knees. He's in job hunting hell and I wanted to cheer him up by building him a cheap as chips beater that will actually fit him.
wondering if any of you have a 61 or similar sized frame that you wouldn't mind getting rid of, any condition, under 40-50£... geared or not, any kind of drop outs, doesnt matter. english threads would be great. doesn't have to be frame only either, but considering the low low price... :P
I was also thinking of going down to a police auction and seeing what they got, any tips on this? are there moral qualms about this?
thanks for reading & any tips / help / etc you give. will as usual keep my eyes peeled on the classifieds and ebay, but any pointers would be appreciated!

you know... i'm pretty unsure about that one... the established independent bike shops like blb, london fields, etc could probably do it but i'd think that would be a fairly pricey option... maybe a car or steel workshop would be able to also... maybe someone else on here has some knowledge about that.

i just built a small pompino for my girlfriend, fits really well and is a good solid bike... plus its cheap! they're getting stock in a week or so, and f+f is still 140£ which is a steal. put a 50mm bmx stem on there, some risers and you have a perfect steed for your gf. i was a bit unlucky though, my girlfriend is italian and ''pompino'' isn't exactly... flattering... so I'm putting some strategically placed stickers on there and saving up for a trip to armourtex....

Hi guys & girls, just clearing out some stuff I have lying around... plus an argos time trial frame i tried selling a while ago, in case there's any renewed interest.
first come first served by PMs, would prefer pickup but can post if necessary. Pickup in Dalston (home) or Soho-ish (work).
Thanks for looking!
Kalloy Quill Stem - 100mm - has had heavy use but has a nice aged look - gone
Shimano 105 Brake Calipers (pair, front & rear) - fairly used, if no one wants both will split - gone
Thomson Elite Ahead Stem - 110mm - as new, was used for a week but is the wrong size - 40£
- Ambrosio drop bars - 40cm centre to centre - used, not many blemishes though, has brand new tape on it - 20£
- Deda 4 Girls drop bars - 38cm - near new, with brand new white fizik bar tape, never used - 25£
- EDGE carbon fork - 1” - fairly used, some chipped paint otherwise good, 18.5cm steerer, has been used as Ahead but has about 2cm of thread on the top. has a starnut installed - 35£
- Steel straight fork - 1” - bought off forum member a few weeks ago, don’t know age but was recently repainted to matte black, looks like colombus lugs on crown, dead straight, classy. surplus to requirements - 30£
- campognolo brake cables - used - for road type levers, plenty of length to go around, retails for 20£+..... 5£
- Lastly - Argos 49cm time trial frame, was on sale here a month or so ago, and i still have it! its made out of reynolds 753, has had moderate use, some chips in the paint, a tiny bit of surface rust on the top of the seat tube, nothing bad though. 100mm front spacing, 130mm back. tight clearances. just the frame, minus forks & brakes... if you're interested in a combined cost PM me! - 120£
extra: Stronglight 1” aheadset - great quality headset - currently cups are attached to Argos, if you want the frame & headset I will include it for a fiver. Separately - 10£
thanks again for reading & looking.

i just finished my coppi a few weeks ago.
first wheels i've built, was a lot of fun and took some patience... i had to relace the back wheel 3 times (i know, its easy... but... i'm a bit of a monkey) but finishing them was priceless! wouldn't have been able to build the complete ride this easily without reading all the info from you guys so THANKS! - chris
-
for a cheap crankset i would probably go for this... i don't know about the one you linked but the price scares me! the stronglight one is also very cheap and dunno how long it will last but atleast its a known brand and they are used on some off the peg bikes, i think brompton? velosolo also sells them and has a deal with matching bottom bracket if you buy from them, but it is a bit more pricey than ebay.
-
shit willo i'm sorry, I took it completely for granted. you were a big help to show that article on flickr. I didn't even think about it, I realise how shitty it would be if randoms accessed my flickr account too. So, sorry again.
The frame is still available if anyone wants it. 180£ for the whole dealie, I can't hold on to her any longer.
-
just bumping to say I've posted the frame on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=140315575264
However, if anyone on the forum is interested I would take an offer around 200£. Let me know by PM... thanks!
