My wife is looking a for a steel road bike. 51cm to 53cm top tube (her tarck bike is 53cm square, but she rides with risers and a 90mm stem). After something reasonably light with nice tubing (Columbus / Reynolds / Tange, etc). Down tube shifters okay, complete or just frame is fine. The frame HAS to be "pretty" though. Was watching a pink Merckx on eBay, but it's too long in the top tube. The frame must be steel with threaded forks and pretty. Simple really. The maxium is ~$1,000 (AUD) for a complete bike. Obviosuly less for a frame only.
Also, it will need to be shipped to Australia.
Just to reiterate: Steel. Threaded forks (no threadless stems) and pretty paint. Just a nice little race frame really. This will be built up with drops, so she doesn't want a relaxed town bike.

I'm pretty sure the frame is 57cm square, whichis a touch too big, but I really wanted a steel, lugged frame with canti bosses(which aren't that common in Australia).
The total cost was around $500-$600AUD. Some ofthe stuff I had lying around (saddle, pedals, seat post, chain ring) and the restwas bought either when I was in the US or from fixed.org.au. The wheels andframe were from eBay though.
Oh yeah, I'm running a 44t at the front too. Works perfectly.

My Shogun. I've nicknamed this the "XOX" due to basing it heavily on the Bridgestone XO-1 (and Handsome Cycles already have an XOXO)
Frame: Shogun Alpine GT "XOX" touring frame.
Wheels: Campagnolo Gamma laced to Suntour
Cranks: Suntour Superbe Pro
Bars / Stem: Nitto Moustache / Nitto Technomic
Bar End Shifter / Derailleur / Cluster: Suntour / Suntour Cyclone / Suntour Winner
Saddle / Seat Post: Brooks B-17 Team Pro / Sugino
Pedals: MKS Road, unknown clips, Christophe straps
Brakes: Tektro CR720 / Dia Compe Aero levers
Tyres: Panaracer Pasela 700 x 32c
Bar Tape: MASH Histogram ('cause I'm still a hipster at heart)This took about a year to build up, no real "in progress" photos. Parts were bought from all around the world... Bars, brake calipers and tape from SF, tyres from Portland, wheels from Tasmania, cranks from Melbourne, running gear and brake levers from Queensland and the frame from New South Wales.

I know the owners of both of them. Good friends of mine. The guy with the blue Jack Taylor also owns this:
My F(ake) Moser (with a front Zipp tri-spoke) was at that show n' shine too. No readers wives for me though. Although, my wife (with the blonde hair) is in the back ground of that Stratos photo though. So it is kind of like readers wives now.
