I really think those two things out weigh his bad aspects and put him above like/dislike arguments, not everyone is/has to be nice, and whether or not he is he's trying pretty damn hard to do stuff, and that stuff is pretty flippin respectable.
(I actually respect anyone who cycles in the tour its mind blowing to go up and down those mountains in three weeks)
I also think the Shell comparison is very harsh, he's only a biker and hes doing he best to help others, which is more than most people do, without any real ulterior motives (yes ego, but i agree with Hippy ego isnt a bad thing)
i really think give the guy a break, hes just a cyclist living a life and doing stuff, there are worse people doing much much worse things - use energy to shout at them not Lance.
The most interesting thing to come up here is what Ro-land says about him using influence to stop cycling cleaning up, how so, could you elaborate, this the most damning argument ive heard against him.
finally this man is my hero;
-
typed a post and lost it heart breaking. the re-type;
This is such a great debate, i wanna add my two pennies.
But first Ro-land was your play the one featured on resonance fm's cycling show a while back? about armstrong/ulrich/pantani? If so wish id seen it, i dont know how visual it is but would you ever consider recording it as a podcast? (or do you already have radio 4 asking for it?)
While im on the subject why does that resonance cycling program not advertise more on here? they'd get loads more listeners, id love to hear velocio interviewed on it ..... unless this has already been done and ive stuck my foot in it.
My opinion;
yes i think he took drugs (but in an era when every took drugs that doesnt matter to me) and yes i think hes a bully and probably not the great person on earth - he is not my hero - but i do think coming back from cancer to win seven times is simply unbelievable and for that i have a huge amount of respect for him. And then, as someone close to cancer myself, he work for charity is incredible.

thanks for those rjs.
I was thinking if man u/real madrid make so much cash out of shirt sales, do you think it will aid team sky if loads of people buy their kit? Do you think they'll have a good deal in place for that or will all the money go to adidas?
It might sound stupid but id gladly save up for one if it had a chance of helping the team be a success.
It would be great to see loads of cyclists in london wearing them.
(It also looked like its been designed so you dont have to buy shorts unlike other kits, so hopefully that'll encourage more sales.)

Im in the market for some cycling shoes and over shoes;
Foot size 9.5 - 10 - I like sidi/carnac/nike not much else
Over shoes - i really just want solid black over shoes without brandings, im not a fan of endura/altura, but if the branding is time/campag/sidi i can handle, but preference is all black.
I know this is pretty picky, i just find other makes bulky, in the same way as their waterproofs.
Ps im not rich and thinking about buying a pair of shoes for £20 on ebay in the next few days and a pair of over shoes for £20 also from the bay - so that my price range really, just posting to see if any body here wants to get rid and make some money/save me money
you never know.
Best, thanks

this is best thread ever. Laughs a plenty.
Carson you must have a kangaroo loose in the top paddock to still be mulling this over, get rid: end of.
Its so scarily obvious.
dont zig when you should zag
remember you cant put the toothpaste back in the tube, you gotta pick the low hanging fruit or you gonna have one foot on the banana peel and one in the grave.
I know what your gonna say; dont pee on me and tell me its raining
but its sounds like you drinking a garlic milkshake.
bite the bullet and get out.

just started thread asking basically what is answered here;
taogeogheganhart will you tell us location when you get it? im well up this ride. do you twitter, or could you post here?
Was just gonna join once it gets started or if its really is barriered off completely watch from afar, catch a glimpse of big brad.
(im guessing its gotta be somewhere round westminister? get in the monuments for press shots, and big nearly empty roads around there. Unless is just a track session? I hope not that would be killer.)

lovely looking bike, it would cost way more than that to put it together.
i feel like buying it just to tip the bars down properly thus elevating it's status to 'sublime'.
at the moment it's a very expensive high class prostitute with a cold sore.i had no probelms with bars, would it really make that much of a difference?
campag everything is the only thing that would make this better for me, shame not to see the shield on the crank.
but this is pretty much my perfect bike, i think its one of the best looking bike ive ever seen sold on here (that eddy merckx low pro from new zealand a while back is all i can think of to top it)
-
heroic? isnt that pretty standard? i wouldnt have contemplated doing anything different.....
......if my bike and all my stuff hadnt been locked in this blokes house where i left it as he locked himself out opening up to me hoping to retrieve my stuff. damn
it brought my night to a premature end as my means to make it to next party disappeared.
walked to nearest friends house.

Got that mug last year, huge cup o' tea it holds too. And I just bought myself one of these horns! No idea why...
These are made just behind my office - spoke to Harrods about it and they go from £25,000 to £40,000 depending on spec. Ouch.
This year I got a watch. Like it, but not used to wearing one. Feel like it looks really conspicuous.
wow....25-40,000.....thats mental, im blown away, i didnt even know there were bikes worth that much....everyone has been well and truely trumped on this thread.

I beg to differ. Carbolite, HLE Peugeots are nothing special just a little above Hi-Ten (debatable) but with impossible to find seatpost sizes and obscure french threads. £90 is way too much I'd much rather buy something decent from here for less. The parts? They're shit. After all the bike probably only cost about the asking price when it was new.
Do yourself a favour and at least buy something made from reynolds quality tubing!
your probs right i just liked the paint work, i didnt mean to imply it was rare (i dont know enough to say that), and i just half wondered if it was a good peugeot like festina ones with a flukey few good parts. Twas a silly passing thought.
yes my housemate has had trouble with finding seatposts for similar bike.
are you a reynolds devotee? i couldnt tell the difference between reynolds and columbus, (i realise that P isnt columbus just asking aside) would you say reynolds is better?
think he'd give cav a run for his money
