both look bad dont they? both look like knock offs to fit the fashion?
id get neither.
if your spending that sort of money you could get some thing great off ebay and take it down to single speed, mercian, dolan, colnago (frame), bianchi, eddie merckx, gios?
if you dont wanna build get some thing from tokyo fixed gear/bricklanebikes.
far nicer no?

it would be nice is all of these questions could be answered, so with all the facts interested parties could put together an answer so that things could improve.
and this debate might develop into something of use not just a loads of half baked/ill informed opinions which dont really help anyone. (Mine are just as ill informed)
as i agree with everyone here - the roads are unbearable.
council workers? road workers? contractors? unionists? forgein people with proper non tourist knowledge of 'other' roads please speak up.
-
i think your going over the top Jeez. although what you say does make me inclined to agree, but;
you dont know whether there is a minimum temperature road workers are allowed to work in - without being paid extra by the authorities - money which they might not have
also there maybe a problem with mixing/materials in low temperatures
id like to know what other countries are like, as i know as a tourist i always have rose tinted glasses and all the roads in spain seem amazing, and i cant remember what roads are like in eastern europe, it wasnt my primary concern,
are the any people from sweden or france here who could help with a comparison is england actually worse than other places?
and if we are is there a reason, i mean we arent the richest country out there, maybe its something we have to put up with? maybe there are more important things money has to go to?
....like war.... mmmm.... (i personally wish we were a neutral nation, maybe keeping nuclear weapons to appease those who desperately cling onto royal britannia, i mean who is really going to go through all france/europe and invade now? especially when we have with nuclear weapons in subs; i really dont see any need for all most all of our military. I'd prefer better repaired roads.)
oh and you ask why so many road works - cable, gas, water etc etc - again id like to see how other countries go about this?
is it cause britain has small roads and was poorly laid out originally that we are feeling the effects now? or do we have different legislation on what you can and cant dig up here? or do we repair roads worse than other countries? - would this again be explain by us being poor?
-
first - terrible and horrific news. incredibly sad
on the 'long term' works;
were they there before snow? if not maybe freeze and snow is cause of 'long term' road works
i do think the roads are unbelievably rubbish in britain but theres not much they can do against snow/freeze, so i give authorities benefit of doubt with works/holes at the moment.
(i also wonder if the are minimum temperatures the workers are allowed to work in by unions? this might explain lack of workers?)
is anyone else finding the holes mental at the moment, every ten meters theres another huge one, its like the roads have been booby trapped.

The bike was stolen from outside my friends appartment, it was locked through frame and rear wheel. Left it for about 5 min.
Alltough the bike was found today by a dude on the fixedgear.se forum.
No damages, still locked. The ride home was the best ride in while :)
when you say still locked do you mean with your locks or new locks? did you have to break the locks to retrieve?
-
thanks recycled, i just had another look through list and been thinking to myself that xena looks the best bet?
it sounds as strong and has alarm, why would anyone get fahg over it? (its better looking to boot)
link above is to cheaper deal, but looks little smaller, 6cms to be exact, is that just like mini-fahg?

Their main GC rider is Wiggins so they're going to support him in the biggest possible way, but as you say depending how other races go in the lead up, they might try and put together a strong sprint contingent, although with Cav being so fast, its got to be a bit of a tough call
id be suprised if they went for a strong sprinting team - were your thinking for flats that with it they could sit on the front and drag back breakaways?
i would've thought wiggins, arvesen, gerrans, henderson, felcha would be strong enough for that
i would have thought there would be no real reason to try and out do cav as there'd be nothing to gain for wiggins, the only reason i could think of would be showing cav its greener on the other side in an effort to sign him up. (although i have to say even with a great train henderson surely wouldnt beat cav 9 times out of 10)
with no team trial and lots of climbs i just have a feeling that against contador/schlecks/radioshack/sastre wiggins will need all the climbing help he can get.
i find it strange people saying sky are weak though, maybe compared to radioshack but other than that id say they're pretty strong?
gerrans will be invaluable to wiggins.
pereiro is a great signing for astana and contador though.

what team do you think they'll take on the TDF? its pretty sprinter heavy for TDU but guessing it'll be climber heavy for france? (especially seeing as thats probably wiggins weakest suit)
at a stab id say;
wiggins, arvesen, augustyn, cioni, gerrans, henderson, bosson hagen, calzati, flecha
a team of 4th overall TDF, 4th overall GIRO, and 3 TDF wins, 4 GIRO wins, 2 vuelta wins.
leaving out pauwels, passoni, sutton, barry.
Maybe barry should be in there?

your right, epo is worse than previous drugs but it is also an extension of that culture so I think to separate the two makes no sense.
I really get to a point when i start to wonder why we want drugs out of sport so desperately? I mean it seems to make sense, but most of our logics our built on things which 'seem' to make sense and it doesnt all work out, i mean homophobia is built out of a one way making babies - so it must be RIGHT and one way not so it must be WRONG. I get tired of cast iron rights and wrongs.
The culture of drugs in cycling is so long standing and now we have a fashion to drive it out (which I must emphasis i do agree with - i just question my agreement because it doesnt really make sense) why the sudden change what difference will it really make to spectators? as it is entertainment.
I worry because it also all seems tied up to drugs policies held by the world powers which are suppose to protect their citizens but really simply prolong the pain of failed states and keep the situation in purgatory.
I cannot answer this question.
-
hang on -i care too? i like procycling, maybe not as much as you but i like it still.
my opinion on armstrong is hugely swayed by that fact i know a few cancer suffers who have found him truly inspirational, which makes me not really want to nit pick.
but i agree with both of you really and all you points, i just sometimes think these issues become all raveled up as one and picking them apart begins to fall prey to male needs to categorize everything with ill thought through logics and forget that there is a bigger picture with contexts which arent divorced from everything else.
two things i dont agree with - drugs have been a part of cycling long before the last twenty years? Anquetil spoke pretty openly about it in the 60's then theres simpson and even merckx.
and chris boardman also had a bone disease which meant he could have never competed properly in the tour despite being a brilliant cyclist.
new back wheel and maybe forks and this would be nice
