i wear air force ones when riding, haha. i also wear my bike chain round my neck quite obviously, maybe that puts off a few potential muggers? my bike's a converted old rusty dawes galaxy though so i don't reckon anyone would think it worth stealing. i've had a few cheeky kids try to push me off but if i see dodgy looking kids on the roadside at night i tend to subtly veer away from them a bit. worst i've really had is a kid spit in my face when i went past him up beckenham hill which was pretty shit.
as long as your brakes are adjustable so they can reach down to the rims of 700c wheels it'll be fine, although i'd probably recommend changing both wheels to 700c..
