Incredibly cheap & just the job

the original pedals sold with these shoes were plastic jobbies with a flat one side and the Look fixing the other side.

Yes the cleat is slightly recessed.

I found the shoes to be not so good for real riding, playing about prob ok- there's no strength in the sole as in an MTB shoe, it twists quite a fair bit as you unclip too.

So saying that, an Audax mad man 600km Paris-Brest-Paris etc swears by them.

A good idea at the time.

The rivets are normal on those wheels at the time of manufacture.

Personally, I can't see they do much as the rivet would only pop into the sponge like honeycomb construction behind the carbon, although they'd sit tight in the carbon skin as that's quite thick on the Comet.
