Well i brought these bar covers off here:
http://www.freshtripe.co.uk/Freshtripe/Leather%20Bits.html
The VO Sew-On Leather Bar Covers.
Well i have never sewn before so this was a serious challenge for me.Took me 3 hours and i am very pleased now as they look and feel great .Match my seat too.Few pictures.
Was going to water proof with that spray stuff you use for boots but i tried it on a sample piece and it changed colour to a much darker colour so will not be using it.Just though i would show you my challenge today and share with you my femine side:)

I think you should add a couple of items to your shopping list
first "fixie" and no brakes, think twice brave man!!
;)
Sorry should it be fixed??.I quite like it with no brakes, used to ride a brakeless bmx so it is a upgrade in the braking world really as at least it does stop without wrecking my shoes. Not really sure about what parts to buy and such so i will just go with the flow .Its Not meant to be a bling bling bike anyway just something fun for me.

Well i have just purchased my first fixie so its a nice little project for me.Brought it for £200.
Going to do a red and white theme(white frame and forks, red parts)
So far i have order a few bits
Brown bar tape
Hope bar ends(red)
14mm nuts(red)
Qr anti theft skewers(red)
Seat clamp bolt(red)I should get some stripping and painting done soon(need a nice hot weekend).Would like a brown seat too but its not a top issue at the moment.

Well done a bit since then.Painted it yellow(was a nightmare to do as i thought it was paint but actually it was powered coat so had to strip it by hand, then used etch primer, filler primer and white primmer just to fill in the marks on it).Added quite a few new parts too and i do have some mks pedals with cages and straps but just got some new double straps off ebay for £10.25 so i am going to fit them to the pedals before i fit pedals to bike.Pictures,
