yeah its one of the bikes rick built up and sold theres another unsold grey bike at B.A. (my new name for bicycle ambulance cos it sounds cool and hackneyesk) if any one want it.

i don't think that seller has measured the frame correctly as i ride a 51 c to c and there's usually less distance between where the top tube and the down tube meet at the head tube. (having said that its not the most reliable way of measuring by eye but usually works out)

take some mole grips and you should get enough purchase to get that sucker out, you may need a little bit of wd40 to help.

i think the bike with the pink v's is a charge plug and its a ss not fixed in fact i think.

put the bolt back in the stem dont screw it in just put it down the hole then take a hammer or mallet and give it a tap that should knock the wedge out of the bottom of the stem.
make sure you get the wedge out of the steerer when your done.

The only way to repair the frame would be to remove the lug, find one of simalar dimensions, re file the tubing to fit the new lug, and re-braze. that is at least 3 blast of heat if the builder is good, and a lot of stress to put on a frame that has had a hard life. Also this would only be possible if the tubing is in really good condition, and a simalar lug can be found.

all in all its not worth it.

just out of interest if you were to do this you would have to take of both head tube lugs and the head tube off, replace the cracked one and then re braze them on to the frame, right?

agreed leave it alone, a different frame will come along that will make you far happier in the long run. how much was he selling it for just out of interest?

rattle can paint jobs if done correctly can come out real nice. johnp3004 is basically wright the only thing i would add is if you put a layer of clear coat in between the top coat and before you put the finale layers of top coat on it gives the paint more strength and durability.
also Montana spray paint is a good covering paint and come in loads of nice colors.

ask Harvey (as seen on fixie) i know hes done a set for his misses and i think a few others. or dare i say it i can could do it but iv only done once before and it wasn't the best out come.
