We went last year and stayed in the Rygerfjord boat hostel. Was slightly ropey but fairly cheap (about £30 I think). Fortunately I didn't have to stay there as met an impressionable young local girl at Debaser which is a pretty cool indie type bar. Just an excuse to shoehorn that story in obviously but sure I'll go back there next time I visit. The place didn't seem to work out much more expensive than london generally. Didn't have my bike but it would be a brilliant place to ride

I build alloy boats and we have various bits anodised without dye which works fine for giving a smart, shiny finish (gets rid of the white oxide layer). Don't tend to use it for anything that's been welded though as it doesn't adhere well to nicks and uneven bits and can turn out pretty ropey. Having said that, for a frame in good condition with nicely tigged butts, reckon you'd be fine and could look quality. You can always spray over it if it looks shit anyway...

That's a bleedin brilliant idea. I'm in nottingham saturday night but already thinking if I leave by midnight, I can be in town with bike by half three. Presumably that's a bit too early - any thoughts on times? Well up for rum-fueled racing, I'll try and dig out my pirate hat.
