My PC isn't fast, as it is now about 4 years old, but I know that contention ratios can impact the speed of downloads, so I'll bear that in mind.
There are so many ISP's, that checking adslguide.com or whatever is just confusing. Plus there's no company capable of ensuring all of its customers are happy, so you always hear horror stories about a firm.
I'll check out o2 and Zen. Thanks!

I've been with a small indie called Skymarket for probably about 5 years, but their £22 service 8mb capped service (I think it's 2 or 4gb) now seems a bit steep compared to some of the deals I've read about. I'm tempted to change to save a couple of hundred quid a year, but know that the big name ones have shoddy customer service (I know first-hand that Tiscali are a massive heap of shit, for a start)- can you recommend a decent ISP that might know what Linux is when I call to speak to them?

I thought you couldn't choose which sorting office stuff goes to? I've opted to send my stuff to my mate in East Ham, because he said there's rarely a queue at his office, and his wife is usually in with their sprog. Whoop!
Anyway, I actually got a call from the Emma St nincompoops, and one of them finally managed to bring my lovely new Swrve windcheater over to my neighbour's place. I tried it out last night on the bike and then just now while on a sausage roll run, and it's great! Very light, great for when it's not hot enough for a softshell, super assymetrical zip action, and it is gold in colour.
Now I just need to find a way to get the sorting office monkeys to hand over my new record player cartridge that the customs bastards taxed me for.

It's called a Mesia Zoom. I bought it about 6 years ago for around £200 off ebay. It's obviously a cosmetic rip-off of a Mesa Boogie, but apparently it sounds more like a Fender. I just wanted something tube, and not horribly pricey. I can never find any info on it, but it's a cream coloured combo, like the one on top here-
I only ever gigged it once or twice, and it never really got used that frequently at home. Arsecandle!

Philippe! Bingo! If he's the same repair guy I took my old Gretsch to, that guy rules. I was hoping he was still alive. He's up on the first or second floor, right?
As for Andy's, I still have bad associations with the tossers who used to run that place; selling a guitar sale or return for me, and then giving me a bouncy cheque. Bunch of charlatans. Strange how they went under...
Thanks folks!

Do you know where I can get my ancient tube guitar amp fixed in London? I turned it on the other day and it made a loud humming sound, while kicking out a fierce stink. I've decided, based on some years of guitar-playing experience, that this just isn't right, and that I should probably pay someone to look at it.

Am still waiting for the fuckheads at the Hackney sorting office to get my windbreaker to me, because I refuse to wait in a massive queue that is so long that it constantly goes outside the building! I'd like to find out which asshat decided to combine the sorting office for 3 postcodes, and then staff the place with ONE PERSON.

I live in the flats opposite Oslo House, and I plan to go to the east drinks this eve. I'm somewhat excited and relieved that we're going to get another kebab shop, as I was finding the 50m walk round the corner to the other one a bit much. If I still worked for LBH I'd have been quite happy to find the planning team for a quick game of ro sham bo.
